Luckiest Girl Alive Reviews
"Luckiest Girl Alive," available on Netflix, presents a compelling premise and a talented lead in Mila Kunis, but ultimately struggles with a pacing that hinders its overall engagement. While the film hints at a dark past and potential suspense, its narrative unfolds at a languid pace, making it difficult to remain fully invested in the story. Mila Kunis delivers a strong performance as Ani Fanelli, a woman with a seemingly perfect life that masks a traumatic past. Her portrayal is nuanced and carries the weight of her character's hidden struggles. However, even her compelling performance isn't enough to fully elevate a film that often feels stagnant. The movie takes its time revealing key details of Ani's past, which, while intended to build suspense, often results in a lack of momentum in the present-day narrative. The parallel storylines, while crucial to understanding Ani's character, don't always blend seamlessly, contributing to the feeling that the story isn't moving forward at a satisfying rate. While the film touches upon important themes of trauma and its lasting impact, the execution sometimes feels heavy-handed, and the emotional resonance is diluted by the slow pacing. The lack of a consistent sense of urgency makes it challenging to remain fully engaged with Ani's journey and the secrets she harbors. Overall, "Luckiest Girl Alive" has the foundation for a gripping psychological drama, and Mila Kunis's performance is a definite highlight. However, its slow pace and lack of consistent engagement prevent it from fully realizing its potential.
This is a big and heavy subject that isn't easy to make into a film. Such is why it probably did better as a book. As a film, and having to cut back between the past and present, only allowed for so much depth, but this film did the best it could with the tone it was given. It's very true. And Mila brought forward that truth very well. Loved it, even tho the tone was a bit strange and moments were a bit rushed.
Better than expected once past the 30 minute mark. The storyline really got interesting and full of suspense at that point and really came together thereafter.
Stumbled on this......didn't know anything about it or the storyline. Wasn't expecting much but it definitely worth watching.
A "Me Too" movie if ever there was one, the film is set in 2015 but contains numerous flashbacks to a sexual assault and school shooting 15 years prior. Mila was great and the subject matter is intense. There is nothing to laugh at here and it's definitely for adults only. If you're in the mood for a serious drama, go for it. Just be warned - a rom-com it's not...
I enjoyed Luckiest Girl Alive, especially the directing, cinematography, and overall production quality. Visually, it’s really well done, and the way Mike Barker brought Ani’s world to life was impressive. The contrast between her seemingly perfect life and the darker, more haunting parts of her past was captured beautifully. That being said, the plot felt a bit too packed for me. It’s like they tried to cram too much into the runtime, which made the storyline feel rushed and kind of hectic at times. Some parts that could have been explored more deeply were glossed over, and it made the pacing feel uneven. It’s almost like they were trying to do too much at once. I also felt like the movie didn’t always let things sink in properly. Some of the more intense moments felt like they were brushed past too quickly, which took away from the emotional impact. It’s a shame because there are some powerful themes in there that could’ve hit harder if they’d had more room to breathe. Overall, though, I still enjoyed it. Mila Kunis gave a great performance, and the film does a solid job at keeping you engaged, even if it doesn’t quite stick the landing in terms of pacing or depth.
Really nice movie. I could relate to Ani's story, unfortunately this is something that a lot of females experience in their life time.

Terribly Toxic movie. Hated it
Content and performances, dialogue were quite good but flow was heinous. Lulled and dragged on at times, then it seemed like it was over multiple times. Audience has to imagine what could have been.
It deviates from the book far too much. Too much left out too many plot holes too many things changed.
Not much to dislike about this movie. Good pacing, fresh story, and a likeable protagonist. A rich world was created without it feeling clunky and the story played out in a way where you cared more with each scene. This is not a thriller; more like a drama focused around life after tragedy. The fact that critic reviews dislike this film shocks me.
Mila Kunis carries a believable and well-told story of surviving a traumatic event and how it shapes the future life. Although the poor critics' reviews no doubt stem from the all too pat ending that puts the film clearly into the "me too" genre of stories, it is slickly produced and ultimately satisfying and cathartic. Worth the watch.
I felt really lucky when this movie was over…. I appreciate the story and message, however, the delivery from Tiffany the main character was so weak. I felt a lot of frustration and anger waiting for her to do something Besides apologise to her rapists and be so nice and sweet to one of them even picking up something up for him that he dropped on the floor. What the F??? When you have been that brutally attacked, the last thing you are, is that sweet and nice, especially when you have been bottling up all the feelings for over 20 years. Tiffany was able to tell someone at the end of the film to F off, and I found it strange that that was the only five seconds in the movie where she showed some strength and rebellion. Yes, she wrote an article about her experience, but she was just so happy about the whole process. It just didn't connect or seem real. As a victim of sexual abuse, I can tell you that I understand the control that the abuser has and the power, but after Time, all the anger and frustration boils down to striking out, not being sweet and certainly not apologetic.
Anyone who has been through such a trauma would find this a very powerful and intense film, truly portraying what it's like to be victimized. It was deeply moving yet very disturbing. Mila Kunis gave an extremely compelling performance. I never realized how talented she is as a dramatic actress.
Terrible story, wished I hadn’t wasted 2 hours of my life watching this. It seems like an attempt for Mika Kunis to play a serious role but watching a movie about a girl being gang-raped was awful. The main character refers to your younger self as chubby but the actress that played her high school self is normal sized. The character also has an eating disorder that I am guessing is supposed to make her more relatable? She also has clearly manipulated her fiancé just to marry a man with money. He fiancé, when finding out she was gang raped told her to get over it and not publish an embarrassing story about it-there are no redeemable qualities to any of the characters.
Kunis goes for the throat
Mila Kunis is brillant in this intense movie. What I found most disturbing (in the best way because it is so accurate) was the amount of disbelief and shame Ani faces for what happened to her. They also didn't fall into the trap of voyeurism with making Ani comment the situations she's in. A calm, intense, movie that will make you uncomfortable because it is so good. Also, If you're a man: Don't watch this until you are really willing to listen and sympathise with women. But also watch this! Bei an ally! Thank u
im liking The movie iTs kool seeing my girl Mika acT. iT goT drama suspense a lil romance. only Thing They didnT have To add The rape scene. only disregard wiTh ThaT whole movie an if iT was Mila I would've dubbed iT real quick. u gpT lucky. i give iT a B+ plus I didn'T read The book so yea.
This movie touches deeply into the unspoken truths that are burned under your skin as a victim of sexual assault. It spoke so much without words. I felt as if I was walking every moment with Mila Kunis. Her performance was authentic and powerful. The cinematography was intentional, sharp, and rivetting.
