Lust Stories Reviews

Jul 19, 2023

Melodramatic. First one was the worst as the acting was also terrible and artificial. The second one also casting was bad and acting equally so. Just didn't feel authentic. Third one the acting was better and the story had some suspense but the ending was ridiculous and unbelievable. Don't want to see the last one! Had enough. Overall it was trash. Forced myself to see it as people said it was interesting.

Really enjoyed this anthology. The Dibakar Bannerjee story was probably my favourite, given the twist it introduces very early on in the story, and the unexpected character beats it takes right until the excellent ending. The acting was also great in this short, with Sanjay Kapoor's performance being the biggest of pleasant surprises. -The Zoya Akhtar story was beautiful and subtle, and probably had the best, most realistic dialogues of the four shorts. The central premise does feel like the sort of thing that would happen more in an indy film than in real life, which is the only thing preventing it from being my favourite of the lot. Kudos to Bhumi Pednekar for bringing such a sense of sad longing to her role. - Karan Johar's film was probably the most lustful, and certainly the most entertaining of the lot. Neha Dhupia leaves you wanting more from a spunky cameo, Kiara Advani manages to strike the difficult combination of horny innocence, and Vicky Kaushal is just a riot. -Anurag Kashyap surprisingly delivers the weakest film out of the four directors, with choppy editing distracting from the story. It also strains credibility that Radhika Apte's character would lose her mind over Akash Thosar's.

We always measure love in terms of profit or loss. We never express our feelings; at the right time. Because we don't know when the right time is. And we end up feeling empty. Fuck that. Be better. Be with the one who loves you.

Nome of the stories are intriguing. The actors in all the four stories have done complete justice to the part thry play. But sadly this doesnâ(TM)t help the weak storyline which fails to leave an impact.

Lust Stories consist of four short films, each story is very different from each other but they all explore the common theme of female sexuality. I am all for woman liberation and all, but I do feel all the stories were overdone. Still, they all were entertaining with their shocking tales. Spoiler free review of each of the stories - The first story is directed by Anurag Kashyap and stars Radhika Apte. (3/5) The storytelling touches on open-relationship, age gap, obsessive/stalking behavior and confusing minds, or it may be that it was just me who was left bewildered. Too many topics were covered making the tale overdramatic, yet it was a fun watch. The second story is directed by Zoya Akhtar and stars Bhumi Pedneka. (3/5) This was a very raw storytelling, little dialogues and nothing much happening. The opening scene sets the stage for a captivating watch with anticipation on what's going to happen. I won't call it entertaining but kind of realistic. The third story is directed by Dibakar Banerjee and stars Manisha Koirala.(4/5) The best acted, scripted and the most plausible story of the four tales. Touches on the theme of extra-marital affair, kind of common theme but the way this story is handled is a masterpiece. Loved the acting by both, Manisha Koirala and Jaideep Ahlawat , the ending is intriguing, wonder if others will come to the same conclusion as me. The fourth and the last one is directed by Karan Johar and stars Kiara Advani. (5/5) I never thought I would rank Karan Johar's filmmaking as the best among these four directors but he surprised me. This is the most entertaining tale of the anthology, and one with a meaningful message to deliver. Touches on the themes like sex in marriage and female orgasms, the way it's handled is a laughter ride.

Kashyap- weak plot, enjoyed character portrayal especially the interspersing of monologues with reality. Made me think on how sorted thoughts can be juxtaposed with a chaotic reality Zoya - wasn't a plot movie and the character arc was barely developed. Editing/ montage scenes and progress of time was great within a tight space. Didn't care too much Dibakar - I loved this one. Manisha was fantastic. Great character arcs, palpable tension, even pace, wonderful use of set, extremely real/true and powerful story Karan - didactic to a fault as usual, over explanation as usual, regardless pertinent plot and implemented with humour and panache which makes it all worth it.

As a modern Indian, I found this extremely good. I stopped watching Bollywood flicks over a decade ago... I want to see more of this kind of movie.

I cannot vouch for the authenticity of the material but lust stories kept me entertained for the entire 120 mins while giving me an insight into the female thought process to some extent.

Funny, quirky and well-acted film. Subtly looks into the social stigma women endure and the complex emotions within a relationship while still entertaining the audience.

The first three stories are very refreshing and unique in their own ways. The first and the third stories are dramatic, honest and fun. The second movie about the house worker is very artsy and leaves you with a lot to think about. However, the last story didn't fit with the mood that the first three stories had set which is why it fails to get 5 stars.

The most vapid movie, I have ever seen. Stories are weak and insipid presentation.
