Magic Mike's Last Dance Reviews
This final film is a disappointment.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Sep 18, 2024
The film does a lot at exploring not only the existentialism that comes with expectations, but also artforms, such as dance, can bring us all together.

Though stripped of its bros and wolf whistles, Magic Mike’s Last Dance is just O.K. The script leaves a lot to be desired.

Maintains its predecessors’ recognition of individual innovation and group achievement while finding new ways to be erotic.

A walking cliché of a movie. Let's hope this isn't Mike's last dance because I want to see Soderbergh bounce back with something better.

This third offering loses a step when it comes to a script from Reid Carolin that is as flimsy as a stripper’s shirt.

Ladies & Gentlemen Magic Mike’s Last Dance is hands down the best MAGIC MIKE FILM. Intimate, romantic, more subtle, & handles the material in the best way yet. The finale goes all out with straight up STEP UP dance numbers

Strange storytelling devices plague the drama movie that, even if you are the kind of fan who purely watches Magic Mike for its sexy sequences and aren’t fussed about story, gets in the way of enjoyment.

The script would be hilarious camp if it were to be funny. Yet, it takes itself so seriously as a reflection on dancing... [Full review in Spanish]

A sweaty and physical film that throbs to the rhythm of Tatum's sensual moves... [Full review in Spanish]

With a messy plot, mediocre performances, and lack of creativity, The Last Dance, a pretty boring film, doesn't meet expectations, even if you had them. [Full review in Spanish]

... A story with the air of a lackluster fable that may deliver a breeze of diversion to a group of friends that are somewhat outmoded. [Full review in Spanish]

Mike’s lost his magic.

If it was a short film ending with the dance bestowed to Salma Hayek in the opening scene this may have been a show worth a couple bucks. Instead it too thinly spreads Soderbergh's economic theses around a high schooler's pretentious narration.

Salma Hayek Pinault is in Magic Mike’s Last Dance to give feminist cover to a debatable enterprise—while enjoying every minute of the spectacle.

Watching late-period Soderbergh, which I appear to be alone in feeling no affection for, I find I often can't tell the difference between what is intellectual perversity and what is, er, the side effects of being a 60-year-old director...

It's the weakest picture in the trilogy, although that’s not to say there still isn’t a fair amount to enjoy.

The seductive, sultry dancing isn’t quite enough to make audiences overlook the storytelling shortcomings in “Magic Mike’s Last Dance.” At least, not for me. Your mileage, and your willingness to drool over Tatum’s six-pack abs, may vary.

Usually, no one likes to see the sausage being made, but when it comes to art, watching that process is thrilling.
