Man of the House Reviews

Jun 16, 2024

Man of the House proves to be short in the tooth when it comes to humor and originality and long in the horns when it comes to stereotypes and predictability.

It wasn't the best film and I'd never want to watch it again.

I don't know what some of the other raters' expectations were for this movie, but if you take the movie for what it is - a murder/mystery with a comedic bend, like Kindergarten Cop or Bullock/McCarthy movies, I found the movie funny and likeable. I thought that Tommy Lee did a good job of fitting into this genre of movie, just like he does with any movie that he makes.

This movie has a great concept, but it doesn't do it any favors or justice. This movie is a hard pass even for the die hard Tommy Lee Jones fans.

Excellent movie, excellent cast. Wow girls. NRJ.

Funnier than it has a right to be still lightweight and occasionally sexist.

I didn't expect much from Man of the House, so I was pleasantly surprised by it. Even though the framework of the plot is pretty flimsy, the interactions between the cantankerous Texas Ranger Roland Sharp (played by Tommy Lee Jones) and the pack of perky cheerleaders is genuinely amusing. No, the story doesn't make any sense. No, none of the characters are very developed. Yes, this movie is completely predictable. Yes, I feel a little ashamed for liking it as much as I did. Maybe I was just in a good mood while watching it. Nevertheless, I wouldn't mind watching Man of the House a second time one day.

It's hilarious and cheesy. I especially love how stoic Jones is in contrast to the rest of the cast. If you took this movie for anything but satire, get help.

Jones doing what he does so well with a handful of great one liners. Endearing chemistry throughout.

Really good watch, would watch again, and can recommend. This is completely a, "You know what would be funny...." type movie, and it is done really well. There may very well be some comedy sketch writing here, but everything is strung together rather seamlessly that you don't really notice that aspect. While Tommy Lee Jones is a fantastic straight man, the girls play it up really well. This is wonderfully casted, and they found ladies that can hold their own against such a veteran actor. Of course the plot is fueled by stupidity and ridiculous scenario so there is a lot to laugh about, but there is a heavy amount of dark tragedy creating the foundation of this story. Weirdly they manage to leave out the "lives in danger" aspect of story for quite a while, but keep the silly through until the end of the movie. Not going to be the funniest movie ever, but it has held up surprisingly well over the years.

I went with 2 stars for this movie, I have seen it a lot of times. I would watch this movie again even my bf thought that this movie was funny. He liked seeing Tommy Lee Jones being a funny dad like character, a role that is really different then what he usually plays. I have seen that this movie has a lot of different ratings, not everyone's cup of tea but this movie is meant to be silly and make you laugh 2 stars. This movie passes the time and I thought that this movie was alright.

This movie is meant to be a comedy, and I think Tommy Lee Jones did an excellent job with it, as well as cedric The Entertainer. The movie opens like a typical action movie and then goes with the comedy all the way until the end, that being said, the movie wasn't all bad, the laughs were obvious, the plot unbelieble, and all of the girls were all beautiful. So for this being an ok movie, just to watch once, and seeing the girls again, I give " Man O f The House " a C.

Love it! I’ve watched this one multiple times. Great plot? Great acting? Not really the point on this one. I laughed over and over and found it very entertaining.

Man of the house may not funny enough to be considered a comedy but I can't say that I didn't enjoy it

It's stupid, but damnit I think TLJ is hilarious here.

An embarrassingly bad movie, Man of The House is one of those deliveries that are suitable only for Saturday/Sunday morning showing on a family friendly 온라인카지노추천 channel. Dull, absurd and certainly far from being funny, this is a painful to watch comedy which better be avoided. Tommy Lee Jones is the Texas Ranger Lt. Roland Sharp who is on an undercover mission as a cheerleading coach. When an important informant is killed and several cheerleaders from his team become witnesses, the scope of Lee's job changes as he has to protect them. This results in a chain of supposedly funny events following the fact that a conservative Texas Ranger should be taking care of several young, energetic students. Everything in Stephen Herek's movie is below the level of mediocrity and could be even considered offending for the average movie-goer. The story is absurd and filled with to so much stereotyping that in the end you may be totally bored, acting is poor as well and even though Tommy Lee Jones delivers his typical grumpy performance, this is not enough to make the movie even partially watchable. In conclusion, even if you find yourself on a coach, scrolling through the 온라인카지노추천 channels with nothing to do (just like me) and see this movie being shown: just skip the channel.

A feel-good movie with Tommy Lee Jones acting as a father figure to five ditzy cheerleaders. Not his best effort.
