Man on a Ledge Reviews
Part heist scenario, part hostage yarn, part cop drama, all of these elements feel halfhearted and eye-rollingly familiar thanks to a messy script.
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Feb 23, 2023
Underneath the surface the movie has a fairly interesting premise. But it gets bogged down in it’s occasionally lame dialogue, it’s run-of-the-mill characters, and some truly head-scratching moments.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Aug 24, 2022
There's a very thin ledge between 'stupid fun' and 'stupid dull' and for it's first half hour Man On A Ledge teeters perilously close to the abyss.
| Apr 23, 2021
Unfortunately, when the camera's not focused on that ledge the film loses all its suspense and drama.
| Original Score: 2.0/4.0 | Sep 15, 2020
A plain and tired heist movie with an interesting setup that is basically wasted with a lame script and uninspired performances throughout the entire piece.
| Original Score: D | Jan 11, 2020
Beyond entertaining, Man On A Ledge will have you walking the ledge of suspense, thrills, fun and yes, laughter.
| Nov 26, 2019
[A] high concept action thriller that is about as Hollywood as they come. That's to say that everything is overblown, from premise to location and effects, and - like so many of its genre - it's entirely throwaway.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Oct 23, 2019
It's a slight thriller/action picture that doesn't aim high.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Jan 4, 2019
Though hardly taking the action thriller to new heights, Man on a Ledge certainly provides some genuine, vertigo-inducing fun.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 13, 2018
Man on a Ledge effectively keeps viewers on the edge of their seats for much of its run time before eventually slipping into conventional cinematic territory.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Aug 8, 2018
Man on a Ledge certainly has its moments and if you don't take it seriously it's good B-grade fun, but considering the calibre of cast and its novel idea, it doesn't live up to its potential.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Sep 11, 2017
They basically patch a narrative together by jacking the best moments from fun popcorn flicks like The Negotiator and Inside Man.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Sep 1, 2017
As befitting the blunt dullness of the title, it manages the neat trick of being curiously watchable without ever crossing the line into remotely interesting.

After an interesting guessing game in the first forty minutes, it slips and falls to a terrible and clichd death.
| Original Score: 5/10 | Sep 25, 2013
This drama defies reason, logic and explanation but it can't defy gravity and ultimately falls flatly on its face.
| Original Score: 2.0/5 | Jun 30, 2013
"Man on a Ledge" is not a film that will change the way we look at thrillers, but it is a film that has enough thrills to provide for a very entertaining ride
| Original Score: 3/4 | Sep 17, 2012
Sam Worthington's Man On A Ledge is an absolute mess of a film, from start to finish. It's silly, dumb and ridiculous.
| Original Score: 4/10 | Sep 15, 2012
The fact that it works is nothing short of a miracle. ... The balance between genuine threat and B-Movie silliness is just about right.
| Original Score: 7.5/10 | Aug 22, 2012
A heist film that never quite lives up to its compelling premise.
| Jul 25, 2012
Certainly enjoyable and occasionally tense despite some wobbly performances and plot holes.
