Man on a Ledge Reviews
A really enjoyable movie, with a plot good enough to keep me both myself and my husband gripped until the end. Sam Worthington is great as the ex-cop who escapes from prison and fights to prove his innocence while standing on a hotel’s ledge. The story combines tension with humour, and deserves 5 stars for providing a good movie night.
The set up is tantalising, but Man on a Ledge can't quite maintain the suspense through to the end, and the messy second half lands with a bit of a dull thud. Still, it's an enjoyable enough diversion.
My wife, movie critic extraordinaire, stayed awake, alert, at the edge of her seat throughout this well-crafted, suspenseful film. The story was engaging, fast-paced, seasoned with great chemistry between the lead actors and some humorous interspersions when things got a little too tense. One should also not overlook possible allusions to, well, another very rich New Yorker, with dreams to build a big tower, after collecting insurance money fraudulently.
I don't understand the hate this movie receives. It's not particularly original, but it's a solid, entertaining movie with a great cast. I've watched it twice, enjoyed it both times.
I don't know why all of the bad reviews. It's a well-written, well-made movie with some great actors. I enjoyed it
Good, easy movie. Pretty obvious storyline, but still fun.
Atuação consistente do Sam com uma trama de uma reviravolta sem precedentes que prende a atenção do início ao fim.
Good string but pretty boring. Didn’t grad me
I liked this movie a lot. There are solid performances by Sam Worthington and Elizabeth Banks. It is exciting and there isn't cussing and swearing. It doesn't need vulgarity to sell it. The acting is good. The plot and premise are good. The man on the ledge is named Nick. He is ex New York City cop who wants people to know he is innocent of a crime. He takes extreme measures to proclaim his innocence by going onto the ledge of a skyscraper where the whole world will be watching. He specifically requests to talk with Lydia, a cop who promises to get him off the ledge. But there is more going on, and the deeper parts of the story are very exciting.
I enjoyed the thrill of this movie. It was exciting. Got me hooked from the story. The story was also great!
tense nice ending 4/5
Some guy I bumped into at the grocery recommended this flick after our conversation about food shortage of some items turned to movies we like. So, I watched it. It was a slow-burn, innocent guy sent to jail who escapes -- is trying to prove his innocence in an extreme fashion. Dirty cops, crooked rich guy and a diamond heist are all wrapped into one nice action/suspense flick. Acting was acceptable but never exciting.
Roteiro: bom Vale apena assistir? Sim Nota: 8,5
On the other hand, if you want a relaxing night in on halloween, with the definition of a fun, nuts and bolts thriller, this is your 100 minutes of relaxation. Sam Worthington books a night at the Roosevelt hotel in New York, eats a room service dinner, then clambers out onto the window ledge, and threatens to jump. As you'd imagine, not all is as it seems, and through a couple of flashbacks the reasoning behind what is happening becomes clear. It's nothing groundbreaking, it's at times ridiculous, but it is an enjoyable mesh of Mission Impossible and Ocean's Eleven. While it's not in the same league as either of those, it kept me engaged throughout, and theres a couple of very welcome cameos, especially Ed Harris, who plays a horrible human being, and relishes it. Good fun.
Interesting prison runaway plan with a twist that surely distract your attention from behinds the bars to the ledge of divergence, drama, suspense, thrill & some fun too.
This movie is great, honestly I liked it. I dont see it as silly what most people say. It's good. Sometimes the dialogues between Jamie Bell and Genesis Rodriguez characters kinda of felt miss. I see what they were doing but maybe if they took comedy away might of been better. I still enjoyed it. I recommend watching this. All of the cast were great.
Is no one going to mention the fact Worthington can't manage to maintain an American accent? So embarrassing. In terms of plot, it started off really interesting and the story is good. Banks did well portraying a strong female character. Basically everything else was ok but I couldn't get past the awful choice for the lead role... no wonder Sam Worthington disappeared after Avatar. He can't act for shit.
interesting idea, terrible execution. The film was down right boring.
