Martyrs Reviews
Go in blind. Be somebody.
Not impressed. Boring movie about a mental illness. Wasn't even scary. Disappointed.
IMO, although gory and graphic, I struggled to finish watching in its entirety because I felt it was boring. It took me four days to complete my viewing because my expectations were of something that would be horrifyingly nightmarish! Instead it turned out to be just an experience in torture and victimization with an incomplete outcome.
It's got shock factor. Zero empathy. Shotgun rampage is 10/10. Its got a continuing story, a viable plot. Sure, it'll leave you hanging but that's up to you what it means.
For it almost all being in French it's a egde of your sinster story that keeps you guessing long after its over. The scares do fizzle out and some gore follows the rest of the movie.
Overrated as advertised, it's not that graphic or original. Fairly slow, kind of pointless, lot of nonsensical parts that didn't line with the lame story.
Went into this one blind, I'd heard it was pretty shocking so wasn't sure what to expect. After the conclusion of the first 30 minutes I couldn't see where it could go from there but the film then takes a turn in ways I wasn't expecting. Gory yes, brutal violence yes , things I'll never unsee yes. As much as i enjoyed it ,It's probably a one watch film as the shocking ending is what makes it great.
With extreme French cinema was in its prime, Martyrs in particular refused to meet its viewers half way. The special effects and acting are nothing short of perfect. It's brutal and unapologetically gorey. It's devastatingly depressing. It might just be the most unique horror film I've ever seen, but with that said, it isn't without imperfections - it does finish quite weak.
'Martyrs' is an interesting watch and, to me, seems to be polarising not for its violence but rather the abrasive way the plot is constructed. It is, nonetheless, clever in its execution to a certain degree.
This is definitely my favorite scary movie. Ghostface Replies Whats your favorite scary movie? This one Very Disturbing, Vile, and Extremely Art House Horror with amazing two separate stories.
Somewhat of a polarizing film most people aren't on board with this treasure of a film just when you think the movie is about to wind down it's sprouts another story involving the second girl it's a great film hands down
While not for the faint hearted. The mixture of torture porn and psychological thriller makes for a fascinating watch
Yes, the movie is obviously violent and cruel. But the plot is amazing, the ending makes you really wonder about life after death.
Deprave. Sadistic. The director and writers should get help.
How does one even give this movie a score? I mean, it has a pretty interesting story, the acting is good, and the makeup/effects are great. That should make it worth watching for most people, but by no means would I ever recommend it to anyone ever. It is very graphic - not just in a gory way either. The physical abuse and punishment in this movie is abhorrent and it doesn't even let you recover from it. I never want to think about or remember this movie again.
Great movie, but not for everyone. Story is very good and mysterious, even up to the end.
One of the most disturbing extreme movies I have ever seen very well maid film
I'd recommend going into this as blind as you can. It gets pretty graphic and the story ends on a note that genuinely disturbs you. It'll be permanently seared into your brain, which for me is the hallmark of a fantastic film. A "must-see" that's for sure!
