Meatballs Reviews
Bill Murray makes this movie the timeless masterpiece it is. ANY one who's ever been to summer camp will connect with this fun ride. It's one of my favorite go-to comedies when I need silliness, fun gags and a lot of heart.
Propped up by Murray in a scene stealing performance, it's a pretty standard summer camp teen flick but the future icon just *nails* his debut with charm, charisma, and comedic timing.
My favorite Bill Murray movie by far.
Great summer comedy! Bill Murray at his finest, must see!
It's a classic! It is a must see in our house every year! The cast is pretty funny!
Because it just doesn't matter!
A classic comedy that didn't age well at all.
The character Rudy is so soft like DJ from Roseanne and he keeps touching his face over and over oh look you touched his face again terrible acting by a terrible actor who ruined the entire movie that character alone makes me hate this movie don't watch it it's dated and the only thing funny or a few practical jokes in it other than that it is a really really stupid stupid movie but the kid Rudy has never been in another movie because he is such a terrible actor and he ruins this movie I cannot say that enough keep touching your face you stupid little idiot actor watch the movie and look what I'm saying he touches his face over and over and over and over and over and over what a dumb movie with bad music horrible music
There is no real narrative, it's not exactly "The Lord of the Rings" deep or complex. It's not even "Friday The 13th". It's just a series of skits and pranks. But the world building, as someone who went to camp I can say it captures the feeling of a camp. The fun and sometimes tedious parts. The closest to the plot is a game with Camp Mohawk which felt a little tacked on. But overall, it's a fun if slow movie.
Not a feel good movie. It mocks ther, "nerds" and gives the thumbs up to the cool or "cute" kids. I didn't like it when I was a kid and, unless you're a cool kid, it won't bring kids anything but down.
Another decent Ivan Reitman and Bill Murray comedy that provides a fun watch and a walk through the nostalgia park for anyone who was alive during the time it was made. This film isn't a laugh-out-loud comedy, yet it does have its moments, offering a good chuckle here and there. This movie isn't necessarily dated, but it isn't fully in tune with 2022 standards. Nonetheless, it's a lot of fun and only makes you wish you were there at the camp with the rest of the characters. For those wanting a late-night watch of something, this is a good movie to put on and enjoy. It doesn't overstay its welcome, and has good pacing, despite a lack of a main story or driving point for the characters. -Fennett
As bad as it gets! Total waste of time. If you graduated from kindergarten then you are to advanced for this movie. Predictable. Boring. No laughs. Totally unbelievable - who sends their kids to a camp where they do nothing except cheer for the camp counselors who compete in every event (and stink at everything). Or leave the kids alone at night whie the counselors sit around a camp fire sadly hitting on each other all summer! Bill Murray as a 35ish camp counselor overdoes it as always! And other then the lead kid this movie destroyed the career of every other actor in it. You have never seen any of the others again. If you watched this movie because your significant orher made you.....question your relationship!!!!!!!
This is "the classic" summer movie. Saw it nearly 50 times while on deployment in the US Navy in the early 80s ... I think it was the only movie that the ship had. Bill Murray is at his lovable best ... funny and relatable. Supporting cast is great! Can't really think of Summer without this movie
This classic comedy didn't age very well, but it still has its moments.
"Attention campers! Arts and crafts have been cancelled due to bad taste." This was my first time seeing Meatballs and have always heard it remembered fondly by people born before me. Unfortunately the experience proved to be a little bit of a letdown for me in 2021, while I can fully appreciate how the nostalgia factor would obv make ppl who saw this growing up bring a lot more with them to a rewatch. I missed Meatballs but totally understand the affinity for "camp" movies growing up as some of my favorites were Heavyweights, Camp Nowhere, and Major Payne (similar format while not a camp). If I recommended those titles to someone who had never seen them, I'd assume their reaction, after watching today, would be similar.
This isn't a hysterical, laugh out loud funny movie, but there is a warm nostalgic feeling to it. I was 8 in 1979 so there is a deep sentimentality to it. That late 70s charm. While as I said not an overly funny movie, that does not mean it isn't a very enjoyable movie experience. Just adjust your expectations. Enjoy.
Meatballs is good not great 👍 just good. Meatballs is about A camp that want to win against there rival camp ,camp Mohawk and there camp is named Camp Northstar. Its not for young kids and Bill Murray is in it. 7/10 good
Classic movie love characters and sound track. They had a great storyline, beautiful untouched camping grounds.
