Micmacs Reviews
Another astonishing movie made by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. It doesn't have deep character development and there's a forced romantic arc that doesn't fit on the film in any manner. But Micmacs is a comedy. The only objective a comedy has is to be funny. And this movie is hilarious, even more than Amélie. Dany Boon's character's objective is enough to keep the spectator stuck in the movie. Is it implausible? Definitely, the story is absurd, but again, we're watching a comedy. And the last thing you should do is to take a comedy seriously. And Micmacs works not only as a comedy but also as a highly intelligent heist movie. It's impossible to not root for the protagonists because this cast is the purest charisma.
Jean-Pierre Jeunet doing his usual Jean-Pierre Jeunet thing. What's not to like?
Such a spectacularly creative film with wonderful characters and a completely engrossing and powerful story!
This film is generally boring throughout the first half and in the second half it resumes but it always seems like it can give more and doesn't give it at the end. But in general it's cute and fun
Being a Jean-Pierre Jeunet film, I guess I was expecting a bit more from this one. Fun for sure, but a bit of a let-down considering his previous films.
Jean-Pierre Jeunet's caper comedy reproaching weaponry trafficking is a fiddling piece of juvenile fantasy fiction that could be from the makers of HOME ALONE.
It's an excellent movie, with a social critique and humor in the same time. It's important to emphasize the photography is a really good point, such as the script.
I love French movies and I have been a fan of Monsieur Jeunet for a long while now. This movie has the right amount of quirkiness and romance and fun. It's a definite must see and must add to your collection.
"Micmacs, if light and silly, is still a wonderful thing to behold, as clever and beautifully constructed as the wonderful automata that populate the tinker's workroom in the film."
The new Jean-Pierre Jeunet isn't a great film but it's beautifully shot, full of creativity and inventions characteristic of his cinema. The story is a little superficial and goofy like the cast. The actors seems to have a lot of fun playing silly characters but somehow it turns the film into a cartoonish entertainment where some serious might have help raise the quality here and there. Still the concept is original and we can salute the effort here to try something different. Unfortunately it feel a little repetitive , the design of the film reminds us of his previous work, the tone and music same. I would have enjoyed to see some novelty but as I said the effort is interesting and full of inventively original tricks.
