Mid90s Reviews
this is personally one of my favorite films. It displays the rawness of some real life experiences of different types of abuse and loss.It shows some of my own adolescence and makes you feel nostalgic of something you haven’t even experienced.
One of my favorite movies, changed my perspective on friendships and growing up in general. so one of a kind and definitely a must watch.
Well acted by a young inexperienced cast and well directed. A good look into skateworld and coming of age in California.
Great coming of age movie. Absolutely loved a few songs in it by Trent Reznor. loved the atmosphere and ambience of this movie. Maybe its just me but most the coming age movies i watch are about girls, so it was interesting to see one about a boy. I really liked it, was interesting to see how much he got wrapped up in the nonsense of the older boys. Would recommend it to anybody who asked.
I honestly don't know wtf Jonah Hill did reading these other reviews but this is probably the best coming of age film I've seen. It's not too goofy and unrealistic like Good Boys or any of the romance centered ones, and it's not too over the top like Thirteen or even Kids (I still like the ladder film). The characters dialogue doesn't sound stupid and "rad". Has a fun vibe to it for some scenes, and a very sad one for others.
I really loved it. Although I wish it was longer.
No doubt acting was really good appreciate it
Lovable characters are very cute. Plot and the whole dialogue was rizz.
10/10 easily one of the best movies i’ve ever seen
literally best acting ever and so real too
My biggest amount of love that goes towards this movie is the asthetic and Cinematography. Oh My god this movie looks beautiful
Fun movie that has Harmony Korine (Kids and Gummo) vibes to it. Almost 4 stars... for me.
Really displays the feeling of skater teens!
If I had watched this movie when it was first released, it would have gotten a passing grade. But fast forward several years later to when the tabloids circulated the news of John Hill's toxic behavior with his former relationship with surfer Sarah Brady, and my perspective of this movie is skewed forever. I cannot hear the dialogue in this movie without directly connecting it to the stories about his behavior in real life.
Wow what a bunch of garbage this was! It seems like Jonah hill got a bunch of kids from the street and decided not to put them in the film only to be threatened by firearms by the kids so he eventually obliged to their needs. Terrible acting, terrible plot and terrible direction! Never liked Jonah hill and in director chair is even worse. Overall would not recommend, Don't listen to the critics in this one. Especially that implied sex scene.... *shudders* Grade: D
A much less interesting / funny / daring version of Kids.
One of the best movies I've see in while. The accuracy portrayed of the life of skaters from the mid 90s to the mid 2000s was remarkable. Great story telling and character development!
As a skateboarder, I thought this might be a good movie to watch. MAX indicates that this is a comedy, so I watched it. First off, this is definitely NOT a comedy. It's raw and gritty, and at times uncomfortable to watch. I admit to even turning it off at one point. But the next day something made me go back to it, and there was a scene that almost brought me to tears, it was so moving. I ended up watching it all, and then wishing that I could watch it again for the first time. Great coming of age movie that I personally relate to, and I recommend it for anyone that is a skateboard lifestyle or drama fan.
The music, the 4:3 aspect ratio, the colour tone, the clothes, the skateboards - bang on for a teenager from the 90s. A really enjoyable coming of age drama.
Aimless meandering revisit a mid 90s experience... if comedy is meant to be pathetic, this is it. I guess this is could be documentary of how douchebags are made and how poor choice of friends poison the future of others.
