Midnight in Paris Reviews
If the viewer is able to set aside their personal distaste for the creator, the film is a wonderful sit. If they cannot, then it steadily reminds them of the personality Allen curated for decades and that might just be a bridge too far.

... Allen brings his fantasy to life with such affection and joy that he transports us into his dream come true as a shared fantasy.

An absolute ghost comedy, the story is reminiscent of Dickens' Christmas Carol. [Full review in Spanish]
| Original Score: 8/10 | Jun 27, 2023
A blithe, lovable comedy about those greener pastures of yesteryear when times were simpler and seemingly carefree, at least in our imagination.
| Original Score: 4/4 | Jun 7, 2023
The film is content to let a handful of underwhelming period costumes and sparsely adorned sets suffice to transport viewers to a world where the main character can’t stop ogling.
| Original Score: 6/10 | May 4, 2023
In the 11 years since “Midnight” was released, Allen has made eight more features and, sadly, all but one of them—the brilliant “Blue Jasmine,” a clever reworking of “A Streetcar Named Desire” are out-and-out stinkers. The man has simply run out of ideas.

Heartfelt, nostalgic, melancholic and romantic... [Full review in Spanish]

This is certainly a love letter to Paris, but it’s also a lesson on living in the present. Allen reminds us that the golden age so many long for isn’t that different from where we are now.

It's a chance for fans of Allen's earlier work to see glimpses of his brilliance, with a smart and charming literary fantasy that makes the most of the beautiful city that serves as its backdrop.

The lack of professional polish feels just right to tell the story of kids who aren't 100 percent sure of what to expect from the big night, but those big, brassy anticipatory trumpets blaring The Temptations' "Get Ready" can't be denied.

Midnight in Paris is frothy, witty, droll and a little enchanting -- all qualities often associated with the City of Light. It doesn't provoke a deep visceral response, but it's still very likable.

It's funny, warm, even enchanting.

Midnight in Paris intoxicates you, and it's hard not to fall under its spell.

A gear shift for a director whose weathered career is jolted back to life, matching bouncy dialogue and a whimsically comical plot with the glossy climes of the sepia toned city of love.
