Midnight in Paris Reviews
A beautiful example of the kind of modern fairy tale the medium of cinema can tell (and should tell more often).
Long and very boring. Hard to believe it was only an hour and a half. Terrible writing and dialogue is not engaging even slightly.
The best Woody Allen film since his heyday in the 70s and 80s. A comedic romance that plays around with the minor sin of romanticizing the past…false nostalgia (while somewhat reveling in it). A delightful throwback to the romantic comedies of classic Hollywood.
Plenty of charm and not overly drawn out, this was a quick enjoyable watch.
I enjoyed the 1920s parts and the different writers and artists, but I don’t find Owen Wilson’s character Gil charming at all. He’s boring and luckily for him the writers have made the women in the film attracted to him. He’s character is a liar and a cheater made out to be the hero of the film, it’s really bizarre that people find this to be a good romcom. It also shows how annoying and pretentious the American upper classes can be.
Entiendo su importancia en el primer semestre de la carrera.
It's a good and entertaining movie. Some scenes were a bit long and boring, but other than that, it was a nice, entertaining movie to watch and it gave a good feeling.
It's one of those "old Hollywood" vibe movies that keep you watching without boredom and make you feel melancholic when it ends. It's not a masterpiece, but it's a classic in its own merit. Wish they made more like this.
Midnight in Paris is highly artistic, romantic, and fun, with a touch of cultural and artistic nuance that enhances the viewing experience. The cast's natural and fluid performances perfectly capture the idealized beauty of Paris on the big screen, drawing viewers into its enchanting atmosphere.
A quiet, charming and beautiful movie.
I gave this movie 40 minutes and I could not finish it. Unnecessary intro showing Paris for 5 minutes, Owen Wilson trying to be Woody Allen, humor was totally absent, acting was not coherent with what was happening and I could not find anything interesting about the main character or his problems.
Woody Allen as usual playing with audience ,with on first look easy comedy, but below a serous fight of one young anxious writer, questioning his live , work and relationship. We are witnessing comic situations in his hallucinations, caused by mixing Valium with wine. Imaginary book of his life is under review of legendary people from the past, and all under Paris beautiful blanket.
It makes me want to live in my dream Paris. The direction of the story is a bit too beautiful, as unreal as Paris in a dream. ps. I love "Let's Do It" at the dance party. (The mark I want to watch is March 28, 2019. I have put off watching it until now because I am not interested in Woody Allen.)
I love this movie and one of my favorite Woody Allen films. Everyone should watch this.
brilliant story, great concept. Intellectually riveting.
Touches very much my personal impressions and experiences of Paris. The main character's search for true identity has worked out well, in one of the finest W Allen's projects. See this movie, let it take you away.
A beautifully-looking movie that fully engulfs in the world of Parisian mystique and wonder. Owen Wilson killed as the likable yet aloof main protagonist. Surprisingly enjoyable plot despite the slower, character driven pace. A movie to watch when wanting to escape into the world of the past, and come out appreciating the world of today.
The nostalgic vibe of this movie is what I love the most. The sets, music, pacing, editing and acting are all on point. Lots of little dialogue details that I picked up on after the second watch through. I went on a Woody Allen film binge after seeing this, but imo this is his best work.
