Minari Reviews
This is a very moving story. There is lot to think about afterwards - the fear of illness, the relationship between husband and wife, the friendship with co-workers, the interference among relatives, etc. At one point when the doctor brought good news, I ended up sobbing out loud in the theater.
Whats the fuss anout this slow moving tv movie type pic.
Srorytelling & characters are phenomenal.
Delightful story about a family striving for a better life.
There wasn't anything not to like about the movie. It wasn't just a portrayal of an immigrant family. It wasn't just a tear-jerking family melodrama. We can all see ourselves in any character in some time in our lives, yet without demanding overly burdensome emotion. We all can relate to the story as ours with varying circumstances.
Out of the ordinary beautiful family story !!
It was both beautifully written, and executed. Really great film.
Heart warming film truly authentic it’s not a cliche sort of film it’s well thought provoking and brings you laughter, thoughtfulness and a surge of emotions I loved it
An absolutely wonderful, heart-filling movie
This is a well-crafted, well-told classic "indie" movie, telling the American experience with the viewpoint of an immigrant family. It works on almost every level: the story telling, the performances, the camera work, even the score. Its Oscar nominations were well-earned, and I would say more were due, especially Han Ye-Ri for her performance as the mother and Lachlan Milne for cinematography. Watch this movie!
Fantastic story, cinematography, acting. Excellent exploration of immigrant experience in the US. Alan S. Kim was wonderful and welldeserved the Critics Choice best young actor award! Shout out to Darryl Cox.
Beautiful cinematography, excellent writing and just a beautiful, believable story.
It’s a wonderful film. It’s a must see.
Great story of a family trying to get along in tough times.
Funny and sad movie that was done very well. Grandma deserved her Oscar!
It was so real that I felt I was there
I thoroughly enjoyed the film. I liked that it was in both English and Korean. I like that both cultures were shown and the challenges that are universally experienced my many people irregardless of race, religion, ethnicity. I felt like I wanted to help the couple, the family. I have to read more about the film from the director's and performers' point of view.
Would give the movie 4 stars on the whole, 3 ending, just kind of cut off. Still would recommend it.
We love Alan Kim as the spontaneously joyous & deliciously innocent grandchild. We love the admirably traditional portrayal of a selfless Asian wife. We cherish the connection of the Korean family with their new-found American friends. We are deeply touched by the spiritual depiction of a god-fearing Christian & his interaction with the Korean family. Last but not least, we cannot forget the powerful love of a mother for her fragile child & her constant dedication to their helpless family.
Minari is a story about perseverance and acceptance. Acting in this subtitled movie is very good, especially by the very young son and grandmother.
