Miracle Reviews
Good performance by Kurt Russell.
An amazing uplifting and patriotic movie!
The name on the front means a hell of a lot of than the one on the back!
It may not be entirely perfect but it's just a great time, Not to mention that even 20 years later after its release, it's still one of Disney's most underrated live-action movies that deserves a lot more love.
ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!
The most important sporting event in the history of the planet told beautifully throughout!
With the Olympics right around the corner, I was itching for a dose of Team USA. This film hit just the right spot. Though the movie's poster and the blurb on Disney+/IMDb give away the ending (The true story of Herb Brooks, the player-turned-coach who led the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team to victory over the seemingly invincible Soviet squad), it is still an inspirational classic. The story is strong, the message is powerful and it is easy to leave the movie with a new sense of patriotism. Note: The final locker room speech is one of the all-time greats. Best Character: Jim Craig Best Quote: "Great moments are born from great opportunity." - Herb Best Scene: The "Again" Scene Best Piece of Score: "The Games"
Classic. Story driven. Motivational
Greatest feel good sports film of all time
The underdog team must come together to win and learn some life lessons along the way. This time the underdog team is based on the true story of the 1980 USA Winter Olympic Hockey Team leading up to the “Miracle on Ice” game versus the Soviet Union. Kurt Russell plays the team coach Herb Brooks and his performance is noteworthy here. I did not care for the up close camera shots that are supposed to show the chaotic nature of a hockey game. However, this movie does succeed in making hockey a lot more interesting than it actually is. I also enjoy the portrayal of how much hard work and dedication it takes to be as good as the best. This movie is worth your time.
I was just a little kid watching the game at home with Dad. I thought it was the Gold Medal Game. Still it works and they did a good job in portraying the game. I do remember when the movie came out and Herb Brooks had his say in the movie before he passed away. This is the best you can get for a sports movie.
The greatest victory in the history of sports was aptly depicted on the greatest medium in the history of the planet!
As usual, American team won againts the Russians.
A Classic Sports Drama. The acting is really good led by a phenomenal performance by Kurt Russell. The supporting cast is really good and the kids are good but the main problem is there is almost no depth or uniqueness to the players. They blend in so much that even though I know barely the struggle a handful go through, I'm never able to even identify who they are on screen. And a lot don't get hardly any development beyond a scene. This makes it hard sometimes when it's personal one on one scenes to develop a strong connection to the characters outside of Kurt. However they still are well acted and do have chemistry. The music is excellent and used during the right times and is memorable. The cinematography is excellent and the best part with lots of well done close up shots, great hockey game scenes, and memorable training scenes and bonding scenes for the team as a whole. Not as much when it's 1vs1 like the guy who wouldn't take the test, or the one who has a dad issue but they're still good scenes. The editing is very well done and stays focused for the most part on Kurt. Again the only time it loses me a bit is when it tries to develop personal stories with the players and it just isn't as strong as when it stays on Kurt or the team as a whole. But fortunately it doesn't do that much. The pacing is excellent and really does a great job building the underdog story, anticipation of the big game, and a smile on your face. It's 100% predictable and you see it coming the whole way because this plots structure you've seen a million times despite being a true event. But it's so well done you don't mind it really at all because it's so charming and well put together. Anyone who is a fan of Russell, the director, or Sports Dramas will like this a lot.
Hits all the marks you want a sports movie to hit, and none that you want it to miss. It's this or Slap Shot for best hockey movie of all-time.
Miracle was a good movie. It was boring at the 1 hour but then the next hour and ten minutes was exciting with all the hockey games. If you like movies based of historical events then you would enjoy this movie. I thought that this movie was good, but not the best. Slightly boring but good. 69%.
Although feeling very cliched and derivative, this true story adaptation is held together by a passionate performance from Kurt Russell.
Happy Ending! Underdog story
Amazing hockey movie
Inspiring, feel good story of an underdog hockey team beating the damn Soviets in the 1980 Winter Olympics. Kurt Russell was a well selected actor to portray legend Herb Brooks.
