Miss Potter Reviews

Chris Noonan did an excellent job of keeping it authentic. Zellweger fits this perfectly, a truly unique character of her times. Amazing cinematography and a stellar cast, all outstanding in their character. Lovely to look at and filled with perseverance and true grit. Filled with fantastic ideas and wonder. Remarkable indeed

Skip it. Would’ve been a delightful, even inspiring movie but for the bad casting of Renee Zellwegger in the lead role. Yes, it’s too slow, etc. but it still could’ve been salvaged if it were not for her limited acting skills (including her trademark smirky expression and terrible accent). The child actors are great, though.

Wonderful movie of a good human being. The story is joyful, sad, encouraging. It is too bad that so many reviewers despise encouraging stories. This limits people from discovering these gems. Perhaps too many viewers are giving themselves over to cynicism.

I couldn't agree more with Miss Potter. Her watercolor art for her childrens books was historical, the city being indifferent with her- sufficating, and her love for the country side is just admirable. She embarks on being an independent woman making her own money in a time women couldn't be independent of a marriage and men ruled the universe. She does it! It's exciting to see that the love for the country side (brings her lovely little creatures to life) and its beautiful landscape pull her into purchasing millions of acres so they'd be spared from man and their compulsiveness to ruin nature and build in the name of progress. Bravo to this woman. Oh my I wish more people thought of the world this way.

This lovely little bauble is what it is. Beautifully scenic, beautifully acted. Not important, but nice, very nice.

One of all time favorite movies. Will watch whenever available. Amazing story. Victorian woman becoming very successful in a man's world. Wonderfully acted.

The version of the story looks very romantic, idealized, but, even so, it is believable enough and it would be unfair not to give it the benefit of the doubt. To see a weekend, without many pretensions.

Just the type of film I was expecting. Not bad, but we've seen this before

As an artist I was surprised to learn Miss Potter not only came up with the stories of Peter Rabbit etc. but also did her own illustrations & found this film very delightful to watch, as it had a Disney type mood to it by adding animation effects to some of the scenes where her drawings took center stage & I thought the acting was perfect as well as the scenery & felt it should of done better at the box office than it did!

While certainly not the most groundbreaking biopic in the world and not as memorable as Babe, which was from the same director, Miss Potter is still a really well-done film with goid direction, well-realised production values, great performances - I think Renee Zellweger just wanted an excuse to pretend to be British again - and a tone that's sweet and optimistic without being saccharine making a tragedy that I genuinely didn't know about hit all the more harder. In other words, a movie that did a better job doing beloved author Beatrix Potter justice than two Peter Rabbit movies released a decade later.

A Tribute To The Remarkable Miss Potter.

I really liked this- a straightforward and uplifting story for a change. I'm not a huge Renee Zellweger fan, but she was good in this. Also enjoyed seeing Ewan MacGregor. He did a great job in his role. A nice period piece.

Still charming... same as it was when i first watch it when I was a kid, which, I think, is the greatest thing you can get from a movie like this one, it throw you back, right into the quite afternoons of your childhood.

Lucy Boynton is adorable as the young Miss Potter. Renee shines as usual, oozin grace and charm whenever she is onscreen. The director however does both actresses a disservice by intermittently switching from the present to the past. You want to enjoy Miss Boynton's performance but this decision not to present the movie in chronological order makes her scenes seem a little off putting and distracting. A chronological telling would have allowed her shine in her own right. That definitely would have added another star to the review.

I love love loved this film. Its biggest problem was a shocking lack of closed captions. In a modern film no less! The story was beautiful even if I had to settle for inaccurate automatic subtitles using an app on my phone.

Extremely odd and extremely dumb. The script for this biopic is a mess.

Renee Zellweger was pretty good in this movie, it makes you think about growing old with nobody to love.

It's one of my favorite movie- I would watch it over and over again. It's very sweet and charming. I love how brave and enchanting she was.

Finally!! A great heart warming true story! Glad to see Hollywood putting out something other that witches, warlocks and horror, or backstabbing, war and murder! Beautiful scenery and well written. LOVED HER BOOKS growing up! THANK YOU!!
