A simple beautiful simple story. It's worth a look.
Perfectly 'prepared'. Whilst by 15 minutes in the likely plot is anticipated, this just heightens the pleasure. Like a fine meal you might say. The acting is pitch perfect and the scenery n production in harmony. The film is not food porn, but a reflection on food preparation as an act of love but also showmanship. Those themes may be corny, but they are kept implicit. Beneath that is a tale of loneliness transcended. That Hollywood blundered in and tried for a less European or humanistic remake speaks volumes.
Nice film, It makes you feel good. Those are good actors. The story flows naturally and it will give you a good time. No pretentious.
Loved this sweet, poignant, charming movie about the huge life changes to a food-obsessed cook's life and how it changes when she has to take care of her niece after her sister dies and also has to adjust to a new sous chef in her kitchen, whose outlook on life and food is far different from hers! Loved it!
This is not a romantic farce, and the food plays a different role than what the title picture shows -- not an erotic plaything. This is about a stoic young woman, suddenly becoming a caretaker for her niece, coping with a similarly difficult girl Lina who could not find ways to grief for her dead mother, or seek comforts and security. In the end, the warmth of affection of those reasonable people come through, however German they are. The performance is excellent.
Nicely done. An unmarried German female chef who is highly strung must cope with suddenly having to care for her niece and the simultaneous introduction of a new Italian assistant. There's not quite enough of the romantic relationship that follows to make it fully believable, but there are many quality moments. I especially liked the ending, which touches lightly and quickly on the ultimate outcome.
Subtle and kind, delicately woven storyline. Loved this one. Don't even think about watching that "No Reservations" garbage remake with Ms Zeta Jones. Not even close!!!
One of the most charming and sweet movies that I have seen in a long time. Just really touching from beginning to end.
