Mr. Deeds Reviews
Crazy eyes is the best character
A classic Happy Madison production full of laughs and cheesy humor.
Great cinema? No. Enjoyable entertainment? Yes.
I actually like this film a lot, this is a film that everyone hates for whatever reason. Adam Sandler isn’t playing a totally unlikable brat like in his other films. 4/5 stars.
If you're one of the half dozen or so people who read my reviews, you surely realize I'm a sucker for a beautiful leading lady. I'm a bit embarrassed by this, but at least I'm consistent. So I'll go ahead and shamefully say it - Winona Ryder was adorable here in an albeit silly role. Sandler put in minimal effort and cast a bunch of his buddies. Was it a good movie? Of course not. But there's no reason to get upset about it. Winona's beautiful, it has enough funny scenes to get by (e.g. flaming cats being thrown out of a window onto a FDNY trampoline!) and a happy ending. If you've got 90 minutes to kill and you like young Adam Sandler, watch it with a buzz. ;)
It’s fine. Adam Sandler was okay in this. I kinda found the plot of this movie to be a bit stupid but it works. I feel like most of the things in this movie felt a bit forced and thrown in there. Like the romance and the sub plot about failed dreams which just comes out of nowhere. A couple of the characters were fine and they would’ve been good if they get a little bit more screen time. Overall, I don’t hate this movie but I don’t think I’ll ever watch it again. 5/10.
Awesome Adam Sandler is always a goat...so silly and so under-appreciated Im not going to lie Wynonna Rider girl you betrayed I forgot how much of a snake she was in this. Deeds was so nice to the community and that's what one thing many people can learn from this film, Never forget where you came from. Wyonna did snap at the nd and saved the day for everybody!!!!
I started to watch this movie, because of the summary, which looked real good. The problem I had was the screen play was so stupid that I could not finish the production. Yes, some viewers really liked the movie, but not so with the professional critics and not so with myself.
I am convinced that there are trolls all over this website. I have never met a single person who did not LOVE this movie. It is classic Sandler, thought provoking, sweet, and absolutely hilarious.
Mr Deeds is a feel good comedy from Sandler's early work. This is part of his second era I feel and is a great rewatch. Great laughs. The fight scene at the pizza shop is great and the side characters as always are a fun touch. Also seeing the delivery man out with Chinese food in NYC during the fire scene is a nice Easter egg.
No it's not a classic. But if you don't take it too seriously it's actually a pretty funny movie. It's a comedy, it's supposed to be dumb!
I enjoyed the movie and thought most all of the actors did very well or better. Winona Ryder was Great. Sandler was only fair, as it seemed like he didn't put in much effort.
A Gentleman's Comedy in a Crude World Well, well, well, let's talk about this movie, Mr. Deeds. I must say, it's an interesting one. It's got all the ingredients of a modern-day comedy - you know, the ones with sexual innuendos, questionable lines, and behavior that will make you raise an eyebrow. But hey, it's all in the name of laughs, right? I have to admit, though, the ending was a bit rushed. It's like they were in a hurry to tie up all loose ends and make sure the good guys triumphed over the bad guys. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the good guys winning, but the way they went about it was just plain silly. But here's the thing, this movie had a softer edge compared to other comedies of its time. You know, the ones that are so low class they make you cringe. So, kudos to Mr. Deeds for not being as offensive as the rest. It's like a breath of fresh air in a room filled with fart jokes. Now, let's talk about Adam Sandler. He's not his usual high-strung self in this movie. Nope, he's playing the low-key Gary Cooper role of Mr. Deeds from the 1940s. Sure, he gets a bit violent at times, but hey, who doesn't? We all have our moments. And Winona Ryder, well, let's just say she's not exactly the most believable love interest. I mean, she's pretty and all, but there's something missing in her acting. Maybe that's why she's not a big star anymore. It's not just her real-life problems, you know? But let me tell you, the real star of the film is John Turturro. He plays the Spanish butler, and boy, is he funny! Every scene he's in, he steals the show. You can't help but root for him. He's like the underdog we all love to see succeed. So, to sum it all up, Mr. Deeds is a pretty nice film. It's got its fair share of laugh-out-loud moments, but let's be real, it's no Gary Cooper-Barbara Stanwyck classic. It lacks the heart and soul of the original, focusing more on cheap laughs than a moral message. But hey, it's still worth a watch. Just don't expect it to be a life-changing experience.
I only watched this for Winona Ryder & its soundtrack by Dave Matthew's band.
remembered this movie to be lot more funny 15 or so years ago.
It's a little Adam Sandler movie, with Winona Rider who gives a nice performance. It's not a great movie but it has some heart
I admit I thought it was ok. Back in the days when Steve Buscemi would take on a dumb role like this. Sandier is basic but ok and Ryder is attractive. It's not great but it works and is short enough not to overstay it's welcome. The constant celebration of violent assault is a bit weird though. Of its time I suppose.
LOL, the funniest 01 hour: and 36 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty Good And Funny Movie
