Mud Reviews
Amazing movie, story, and acting. 10/10
Quiet, deliberate and full of heart, Mud is one of those rare films that blends simplicity with depth. Jeff Nichols crafts a story that unfolds like folklore, grounded by McConaughey's honest, lived-in performance and told through the eyes of a boy on the cusp of growing up. The film is emotionally rich, visually evocative and smartly written. It’s not flashy, but it’s complete. More than most of 2013’s Best Picture nominees, Mud deserved serious awards consideration.
This was a very entertaining and well acted film. Should have watched this a longtime ago.
I enjoyed this film. McConaughy (sp?) played his role well, and the kid actors were also really good. I love this sort of coming-of-age story.
I’m astonished at the shallow reviews. Dig into this film and it reveals a weakness of plot and character. The actors take advantage of the plot and overact. You Hollywood critics must have some backdoor actors who you love.
The spiritual adaption of Huckleberry Finn. Evocative folklore atmosphere , Compelling performances and Tied together with Beautiful cinematography.
The perfect example of a perfect film, gripping from start to finish without being over-the-top on action, you’re left wanting to know more right from the get go. And a wonderful ending to top it all off. A great balance of humour, intrigue and emotion paired with impeccable acting and directing makes this a 5/5 and one of the best I’ve seen!
Incredible writing coupled with great performances by all involved. Throw in an excellent soundtrack and score. This really is a remarkable film.
Kids acting is amazing and so natural.
this is a slightly extraordinary story executed excellently (heehee). its one i always feel is underrated but it fights above its weight. just the right balance of drama, grit and heart without any pretentious garbo. mad recommend.
I've always liked this movie but upon my most recent rewatch, I've gained a new level of appreciation. Tye Sheridan's performance is absolutely phenomenal and worthy of receiving a best supporting actor nomination. Reality can be harsh. It makes people bitter. Our optimism might just be delusion or maybe there is a better life out there or maybe you can freeze time at a point in your life you wish would never end.
I can't count how many times I have passed by this movie but I finally watched it and it's great. The kids, in particular, are especially good.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Well-written thriller. Shows you that success doesn't require CGI. Captivated beginning to end.
This movie remains in my Top 10, fresh story, great performances across the board, felt like I was living it.
Such an underrated masterpiece I'm happy rotten tomatoes at least gave mud the rating it deserves
Sometimes to grow up is to accept the harsh reality, especially around true love! Two boys meet a drifter named Mud who needs their help to escape from dangerous mercenaries and reunite him with his crush. Brings us down in the mud with everyone else and shows us that accepting reality is a big stepping stone for growing up.
Awesome coming of age type movie but for adults. Acting by everyone was superb especially the two young lads. Beautiful scenery aswell. Fantastic film.
Nothing like I imagined. Was looking for a flick to be background noise, instead I didn't get what I needed done, done. This movie was all I didn't think it would be. As usual alright, alright, alright was more like good, better, incredible. The twists and turns, leaps and falls, love and disappointment were all in play. Mystery, some action, some, well you get the picture. For those who haven't seen it, or have it on your playlist. ADD IT!!! There is no disappointment in this movie, and I may watch it again to see if I missed anything. Truly a movie that I didn't know the outcome of, well most of it... What a great time investment!
my favorite matthew mccoughy film. great acting and the story is great in the river a great adventure film the young actors are great just a fantastic film i think it will be a classic someday.
Career best performances from McCounaghey & Witherspoon in this gripping and engaging drama. One of 2013's best movies.
