The movie is a bit uneven, granted...but so is Life in general. It's based on a true story and I'm sure that liberties were taken and Im OK with that. See the movie just to watch Michael Sheen as the guy with cerebral palsy--he was terrific!

this movie COULD have been good but whoever wrote the lines for the actor with cerebral palsy that were supposed to be funny (none of them were funny) they were embarrassingly stupid! AND, everything he said and did was exaggerated to the point, i couldn't watch.

A lesser standard biographical film that elliptically only focused on chronological checkpoints lining up the achievements summing up their societal effects without diving into truer insights of the depicted cases besides generic, pre-acknowledged frontal stereotypes. Rather minimally though with a positive spirited spin and being genuine in the associated messages they delivered on top of their performances, namely Livington and Sheen, to make it up by triggering heartfelt empathy. A basic story under average focus with performative convictions towards an infrequent topic, setting itself as a lesson towards the genre's tackle, then locally favored er the scenic backdrop. (B)

As a disabled person, this movie really spoke to me! Even after the ADA has been around for a long time, still I have to fight everyday to get my rights under the law, such as the handicapped parking place in the local US Post Office in my town. The parking lot had been resurfaced and a new sign and painted spot was never put in place afterward. After asking for over 6 months for it to be put in place, all the post mistress said was that she didn't have anyone to put up the sign. I had to call the Postmaster General--the next day, the sign was there. But now perfectly able-bodied people use it as a place to stop "Just run in to mail" something, saying nobody was using it and its handy right there--it only took the spot for a minute! But what is a disabled person supposed to do with their car while you are in their parking spot? And there are never enough handicapped parking spots! There are never enough electronic carts in Walmart, because able bodied people think they are fun to just ride around in. And I don't know how many times have seen an able bodied person coming out of the handicapped stall in a bathroom, because they like that there is so much space! But they don't need the grab bars and I do! And I can't use it if you are in there, and I have to wait standing, which is agony for me! If you are able-bodied, just thank God, and stop using few parking spots and bathroom stalls we have! The struggle never stops for the disabled!

Very good story. It is amazing how a guy loses most of his hearing from being in the vietnam war can understand someone with cerebal palsy better than hearing a normal person.

Could this story have been told better? Yes! But, fantastic performances by Ron Livingston and Michael Sheen. Makes the movie worth your time. This story deserved to be told and I am so glad it finally was.

The best thing about this movie is the acting. There are some incredible performances here, but particularly from Michael Sheen. While the film is slow moving and really more character-driven than anything else, I found it very engaging and really enjoyed it.

Touching, witty, down-to-earth. By far, one of the best films I have seen in quite some time.

How many of the critical reviewers are disabled? I liked the treatment...we're the "critics" looking for hearts, lollipops and rainbows here? I'm guessing the other 79% might actually have learned something from this film.

An inspiring film about one of the leading character in the disability movement in the US, told with humor, passion and warmth. A must see for development activists.

Hadn't heard of this film but noticed it at the library. Nice true story about a man who helped changed the world for those with disabilities. Not quite a brilliant film, but a very worthwhile one.

This was an enjoyable movie about rights for the disabled; however, outside the storyline and characters did not have much going for it. On the plus side, Art was awsome.
