The Nanny Diaries Reviews
Can we give negative stars?? Utterly painful to watch!
Not sure how or why I watch the whole thing. I was expecting something to happen but the movie was pretty bland.
I think the critics were too harsh. My only issue watching it was that I was stressed out for Annie, and I wish she could've vented more to her friends. Also, the end was unrealistic (with the video). Overall, I enjoyed it, and I think "ScarJo" was likeable and relatable in it.
Scarlett Johanssen is great In this and its a good watch. Paul Giamatti is a creep in this and Chris Evans can't take no for an answer plus Grayer(The Little Kid) is the worst I'm sorry he's annoying.
Charming and easy to watch. Happy to have stumbled upon it.
Great movie, solid plot & characters.
This film reminds me of a modern version of "Downtown Girls". Although this may not be the most complicated film, it is good and easy to watch. Great actors and a nice comfy film. For those who are fans of Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans then this film is for you. It is a cutesy film of there's before of the two before they became A List superheroes. Laura Linney portrays an upper east side wife extremely well shows beautiful emotion when it comes to being neglected by her husband. Nicholas Art's (Grayer) performance was superb for a child actor and makes the film even better.
It's not ground breaking, but The Nanny Diaries provides enough chuckles to be worth the watch. The storyline is earnest and wins you over if you let it. Additionally, seeing Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans in the same movie is always a treat.
The only good thing about this movie is the presence of a young Scarlett, as the story is simply dumb and lame. On the comedy side it is only slightly funny, with big parts are rather annoying. 4 1/2 points out of 10!
Exagerated, but touching
You have seen it all before, but it works.
I love Scarlett, but this movie just wasn't it. Characters were obvious, people not very likable. But a few enjoyable parts, and NYC looked beautiful.
Seeing this film was tantamount to me quitting a cleaning job where I was also babysitting, but only getting compensated for my cleaning work. The drama of that house mimicked what I was watching in this film, and it helped me sort all that out. Thanks cast and crew :) This film helped me deal with the emotions of leaving a family who depended on me to fix them, but I understood I was just helping clean-up the problem they needed to face. You feel like you are abandoning kids you've become very attached to (which the film gets into), but ultimately, there has to be some responsibility taken by the parents to clean their own house and take care of their own kids.
Just re-watched this charming observation of the rich and the even more rich, and their lifestyles with nannies.. Surprisingly in 2018 it holds up well. Nothing, it seems to have halted the endless circle of money, entitlement and child care by someone other than the original parents. it's a well-filmed story of a nanny trying to find herself before hitting the suggested grind of the financial mills. Johansson plays a low-key nanny/anthropologist and doesn't add much except a bug-eyed expression as her Laura Linney mother boss call the shots. Linney is absolutely stunning as a well groomed and beauty sparred upper New York 'committee' empty days mother. The gap between the rich and not rich but educated is still relevant and the direction cuts into impressive vignettes of what tragic things matter to this league of material junkies.
It's not bad. It's not great, either. Not the best satire or love story, but it is decent fun.
Not really a comedy, since here are no real laughs, but a lighter view of a dysfunctional wealthy family that doesn't meet the needs of anyone in it, although the drama is not severe, I still hurt for them.
