Napoleon Reviews
Another Great War film about probably one of the greatest military minds in history
While this is a grand and sprawling epic, it still remains rather fractured and remains a rather incomplete portrait of one of history's more interesting warmongers.
Wish it was better. But I liked a lot of of it.
Walked out halfway. Seemed like a weird parody of Napoleon. No character depiction or depth whatsoever.
Leaving aside historical accuracy (which is non-existent). Dialogue - terrible. Acting - mediocre (Joaquin Phoenix seems to have given and just going through the motions) . Battle scenes - laughable. If this is the best Ridley Scott can produce he should give up and do something else. If you gave a Media Studies student the budget this the the type of rubbish you could expect.
While Napoleon impresses with its breathtaking visuals, impeccable score, and stellar acting, the film's potential is undermined by a weak script and questionable historical inaccuracies. Scott's insistence on a dull love story feels misplaced and detracts from what could have been an epic masterpiece.
Vulgar, dry, with no reasons to care about any of the characters. It felt like watching a clip show of the highlights of an okay 온라인카지노추천 series about Napoleon, one with a weird script, and poor direction
Impressive battle scenes and beautiful staging but what's the point? Was Napoleon an evil genius who rampaged across Europe or a brilliant leader who destroyed oppressive regimes so that a new world of freedom and opportunity could be born? This movie doesn't seem to know or care. Its main point seems to be that the most successful military leader in modern history was a surly, ambitious, combative thug who was in thrall to a woman for obscure reasons. Some of the dialogue is risible - almost like "Not tonight Josephine - I have to invade Russia tomorrow"
It was good just not much of a big fan.
Um belo de um cocozão!
나폴레옹에 대해 좀 더 알 수 있어서 의미 있었음.
While the premise seemed promising and set the stage for a monumental film, it ultimately falls short. Besides the impressive combat scenes, the movie disappointed and failed to pull me in emotionally. Maybe the life of Napoleon is simply too full to adequately depict it in even a director's cut of almost three and a half hours.
Terrible movie, storyline hard to follow and I cut it off before the ending.
Slow, dull, boring, underwhelming. No idea why anyone would bother writing a movie this pointless and non-entertaining. You'd think that combining one of the greatest actors of all time with one of greatest military leaders of all time would result in a great movie. But not even Joaquin Phoenix was good enough to overcome this terrible script.
Too much time focused on his love life and quickly passing through his conquests
A solid movie in its entirety… from the costumes to the war scenes. I did enjoy the movie’s quirks in highlighting his short man complex to break away from the serious tone at times. Definitely worth a watch.
How an epic film can bore you! This proves that most of the big Hollywood films have very little substance or focus. 'Napoleon' has glorious battles, gorgeous vistas and costumes, and includes good actors but it just jumps from event to event and leaves you still just wanting to understand these bizarre characters. Hollywood is all action these days, or else trying to shove their idealogical agenda into every cinematic nook. This is a decent example of the former. They just don't know how to tell a good story anymore.
I started to watch and as it became bogged down in the middle with all that's going on between him and Josephine, I became disinterested. I then said to myself, let's see what the critics are saying about it on RT and let's hear what the audience has to say. I agree, I don't think I'll waste anymore time on this movie. It was kind of maudlin anyway.
Eating glass is better than watching this.
This movie proves that audience attention just doesn’t last unless some romance is force-fed to them. I really enjoyed the war scenes but absolutely hated the love story we were forced to sit through. Was Napoleon really all about love? I don’t think so.
