National Anthem Reviews
Luke Gilford is a director to watch!! Sexy and celebratory. Is it possible for a movie to be both bold and subtle?? Incredible performances and cinematography. So refreshing to see such a vibrant community represented on screen. Big yee-haws all around!
Very interesting script until the middle. Then the story weakened a lot and the ending was very underwhelming. As if they rushed to finish it. Acting and scenery was great though. It was an ok watch overall.
A charming and atmospheric film
Very disappointed in this film. There was no clear connection to the characters, when that looked like that was the goal at the begining of the film. Not understanding, why would she lead him on, and just cut him off, knowing the struggle it took for him to open up and come out of his shell. Also why would the boyfriend get jealous of Dylan, seeing he was good with the threesome? The ending did not really add up either. Why when he could see his mom was struggling substance and money issue, would he think it was wise for him to leave his little brother with the mom? Oh! and where the hell was he going and was he ever coming back? These are the questions I would have love to have known before leaving the theater?
It’s a beautiful movie though I can’t say subject matter is relatable to me. Still, very well acted and lovely.
This was a very well shot and acted movie about discovery, acceptance and love.
Had a 3.5 rating earlier. Wanted to change it to 4.0, so here’s a 4.5
Incredible visuals and music (featuring songs by Perfume Genius!), taking us through a joyous queer western story!
It’s just beautiful with a realness that never had me doubting its authenticity.
touching, revealing, thought provoking. mistifying and hopeful.
10/10 a transformative, healing, unforgettable experience seeing it in the theater with friends
A great film. Thought-provoking.
I had a big smile watching this movie. Glad Dylan found a community he could belong too.
This film feels like bringing your partner home to your parents for the first time after coming out and them referring to it as a phase and then them finally seeing and understanding your love as equal to hetero because they feel it first hand, and it reminds them of their first time falling in love. Not seeing it as 2 separate experiences - but a universal experience.
So many 5 star ratings by people who need a worthless piece of media to affirm their poor life decisions and, very likely, daddy issues. Ugly actors, too.
Deeply moving and visceral in its detail. I loved this movie. Charlie Plummer is a star.
A beautiful movie of acceptance, friendship, love and forgiveness. Awesome acting by all. I had no idea what this movie was about. I had some free time, so I chose this movie to see. WOW, it was worth the time and money.
Superbly told story with amazing visuals and characters that make you care about what happens to them. The acting performances by Charlie Plummer and Eve Lindley, in particular, are outstanding and will touch your heart.
Absolutely beautiful and gorgeous. Unlike any other film Ive ever seen. Will recommend to everyone I know!!!
Fantastic story. We'll acted. Heartbreaking, loving, wonderful story and filmed beautifully.
