Nerve Reviews
Decent flick but I just just want to point out how pathetic Tommy and the friendzone is. Truly pathetic.
Good plot makes me want to play this game in real life. I enjoyed the little love story developing through the movie. Ending was a little wild but overall, a very enjoyable movie.
Yes a little far-fetched at the end, but what a fantastic plot.
I am not a fan of Emma Roberts in anything. This movie started out interesting, and kept it that way for most of the movie. The end, however, was pretty silly. There ate plenty of holes in the plot line. PLENTY. It could've been a much better movie; but instead it had a movie of the week ending Good try; could've, should've been better.
Surprisingly good. Interesting story. Trigger warnings: - dumb teenagers (inevitable) - dumb adults (inevitable) - unrealistic hacking (inevitable) - bad table tennis playing (just don't look if there is table tennis) - heights (ladder and skyscraper scenes) - bad sisterhood (relevant for the story... inevitable)
Does a good job observing the faults of a decentralized viral libertarian system. It doesn’t look too far from the illegal acts being streamed for profit on crypto platform pumpfun today in 2024
Interesting enough premise to keep me interested up to the very end. The idea of daring someone online is a little too close to reality.
We've seen this before. Its ok. The Dares are kind of innocent compared to other movies. 3.5*
Underwhelms as it plays it safe and stays on the touchy-feely side of things.
Decent enough film. Didn’t see the “twist” coming at the end. Pretty exciting movie all the way through.
It's perfect. I love this movie
Movie's a 3/5 but because Ian was hot it gets a 4/5 instead
Vale apena assistir? Sim. Nota: 8,25
dumb and boring and predictable
I only drop a star because she had no reason to inform the police in the movie you'll see it other than that this movie is wonderful I can't say anything else without killing it good special effects Beautiful People good acting just a couple instances of bad writing but it has a great ending in most of it's very very entertaining I'm very glad I watched it
A few minutes in when I figured it was about teenage social media (yawn!), I feared the worst, but then it started to get interesting. The film is bathed in neon lighting and has an unusual synth musical score which make it cool to watch. After the obligatory character introductions are sorted, the story proper starts to develop and the film is very entertaining for the most part with plenty of action and a few surprises along the way. The only problem is the ending, which I found very unsatisfying. It's as if the producer shouted "times up", when they were only part way through. With a better ending this film could have been really good.
Right, so... this started off so well. It was reasonably extraordinary at first. It was out there, but I could still buy it. I get the theme with modern teenagers being sucked in by the fame that the internet can promise, and just how dangerous that can be. I get it. But then, by the end, it veered off into Mad Max territory with a dash of Mr. Robot. I just couldn't. Great theme and great beginning, though.
Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman present viewers with a neon adventure in their 2016 New York-based thriller. The 96-minute escapade is something that isn't to be taken too seriously, even if the film itself does. 'Nerve' stars Emma Roberts as Vee, a quiet high-school senior trapped in the shadow of a family tragedy and popular best friend Syd (Emily Meade). Tired of being stuck in the shadows, Vee decides to sign up to Nerve - a social media-based version of truth or dare with big prizes, but dire consequences. After receiving her first dare, kiss a stranger for five seconds, she locks eyes on Ian (Dave Franco). Once the two share a quick smooch, they are pushed into a night of wild, yet dangerous, dares courtesy of anonymous users. The dares then escalate, leading to Vee (Roberts) risking her life, and after a visit to the police station, it's soon revealed the only way to escape the game is death. Roberts gives a great performance for what 'Nerve' is, a film that requires little acting ability - hence Machine Gun Kelly's casting - but it wouldn't have landed Roberts in the 2016/2017 awards race. Opposite Roberts stars Dave Franco who gives a super performance as Ian - a mysterious motorcyclist who teams up with Vee on this crazy adventure. Like with Roberts, 'Nerve' doesn't offer it's cast a chance to show off their acting abilities but with only a 96-minute run-time there wasn't exactly any space to do so. The rest of the cast gives an ok performance, but there's not much for the viewers to really sink their teeth into and enjoy. 'Nerve' approaches many issues we deal with in today's society, ie., the dangers of social media, and the power it has over today's population. However, it probably doesn't make viewers want to delete their social media because it is unrealistic and improbable. Despite the failure to deliver on a promising premise, this doesn't disappoint on the technical side. The pop-centred, upbeat soundtrack compliments the vivid scenery and Michael Simmonds' cinematography is visually pleasing but doesn't compare to his previous works such as 'Halloween' (2018) and 'White Girl'. If the $20 million budget had been increased, then it could've become a classic, but with so many plotholes and inconsistencies. But instead, it falls flat and leaves viewers with multiple questions. 'Nerve' also makes use of the classic - nerves save the day with tech motif, which in all honesty isn't that hard to predict. In Conclusion, this is a unique film with a brilliant concept but instead fails to deliver to viewers. Joost and Schulman should probably stick too directing films in the horror genre as this film isn't one of their best. However, for what it is, 'Nerve' is a decent film with likeable leads and a strong soundtrack.
