Nightmare Cinema Reviews
A gory anthology but entertaining to watch
How are more people not talking about this, a film that has Mickey Rourke as death itself inside a theater that shows the ways that people expire? It's got direction from Alejandro Brugués (Juan of the Dead), Ryûhei Kitamura (Versus), David Slade (30 Days of Night), Mick Garris (Sleepwalkers) and Joe Dante (and if I have to tell you his movies…I really hope I don't have to) and people still aren't getting obsessed about this? "The Thing in the Woods" may be a simple retelling of slasher films, but Dante's "Mirari" is really filled with dread as well as Richard Chamberlain and Belinda Balaski. Kitamura's "Mashit" goes all School of the Holy Beast with a tale of demonic possession and perversion amongst Catholic schoolgirls. Slades "This Way to Egress" stumbles a bit in a story of a woman hallucinating as she waits for the doctor, while "Dead" and the connecting story by Garris have a young boy against impossible odds. A couple of weeks ago, someone asked me, "What makes Mick Garris a Master of Horror?" I'm still struggling to figure out the answer and this movie certainly didn't help me, as his segments were the worst parts of this. He does seem like a nice guy though.
‘Nightmare Cinema' Attempts to Revive ‘Masters of Horror' With Mixed Results
Suffering from a bad case of diminishing returns, what starts out good and interesting quickly becomes a slog. The cinema aspect is utterly pointless, only serving as a way of shoehorning in Mickey Rourke into the movie. I'm getting sick of these Shudder movies making 'horror short collections' into full naratives instead of just making them episodic miniseries' like they should be. Some good acting and generally good camera work and effects, but it couldn't stop the boredom starting to set in by the 4th story.
As a fan of horror anthropology movies this movie was Okaaay. Alot of the stories had great potential until they got to the predictable fight scenes which came off like it switched to a comedy more than horror. It was on my 온라인카지노추천 so I watched it.
Five strangers watch their deepest and darkest fears play out before them in an abandoned theater as the Projectionist preys upon their souls with his collection of disturbing films. With a run time of 1h 59m Nightmare Cinema reminds me a lot of the tales from the crypt series with its comedic horror value's but at times it also offers a more serious psychological horror experience. All and all I really enjoyed all the film had to offer 5/5 skulls
Mick Garrisʼs passion project anthology, 'Nightmare Cinema', gives five different directors a chance to show their chops, and each one of them gets to shine. It may not always feel consistent or reach the heights of its inspirations, but it hits more than it misses and generally entertains.
not bad; like all anthologies there's some stories better than others, but there's more than 3 in this one & they're probably diverse enough you're bound to like at least one of them.
A pesar de que algún corto está gracioso, y hasta otros parecen tener ciertas intencionalidades artísticas, lo cierto es que esta antología se me antojado un poco….coñazo. Me he aburrido mucho. Y el wrapper es sosísimo, sin sentido, y un poco demasiado meta - narcisista...Meh?
A fun gore fest horror anthology with amazing practical effects that should satisfy any 80’s horror fan. Bring the wine because it is full of cheese...and it was delicious.
I was very excited about this, but was very disappointed. There are two or three of the anthology stories that were actually pretty great, but the rest fell short for me.
I'm not the biggest fan of horror movies because they're too cliche, too over the top with gore, and in general can't focus on keeping the viewer in suspense. i thought this would be another run of the mill horror film after the first short film. Though it dawned on me that this movie was embodying and making fun of horror cliches at the same time. Some of the films did it better than others (plastic surgery needs a stronger ending). The movie seems dumb and inconsistent on the surface, but it actually has some intelligence beneath the surface. it keeps your attention without having too much gore and throws in a couple of funny moments. The weakest parts were the endings and the self-insert movie theater guy. Though these are honestly not huge issues and the movie is worth a watch! Much better than most other horror films!
Good movies have a protagonist, antagonist, plot and meaning. This has none of those. Some other things it doesn't have are good acting or special effects. If you're looking for a B grade horror flick with no point knock yourself out
