Jesse Plemons genuinamente perfeito...

Jesse Plemons' performance elevated this film in such a beautiful way.

Didn’t connect with this. “Just sad” sums it up.

The main character is absolutely insufferable.

This movie is nothing but depressing. Critics laud the humor points, but I saw none. I saw solid comedic actors playing horrifically depressing roles. No laughs. No smiles. Just heartbreak. This movie could have offered some balance. There was none. You had better be in a good mood if you decide to take this horror story on.

gosh... cancer movies are hard. there are SO many big name comedians in this film!! they just kept popping out one after the other. Molly & Jesse both play their parts very well but everything is just sad. everyone's sad all the time & nothing is going right. the "comedic" relief isn't relieving or comedic in most cases - I'm not mad i watched it, but i found it to be exhausting. i don't think i'd recommend it to anyone.

Moving movie with enough comedy to make the dark subject bearable.

One of those little gems you stumble across on Netflix. Funny and moving account of outsider David, as he unexpectedly finds himself back in the bosom of his family caring for his dying mother. Beautifully judged.

This was a nice movie for those who aren't the 'other people'. The title accurately reflects the main premise that stays with you. How we always think the worst things will occur to other people and then we don't know how to handle it when they do occur. It's a movie that is a solid drama and characters are quite relatable. And if you have a terminal disease, I hope you reach your end in a way that is as comfortable and beautiful as is the case in this movie. But the movie does not reflect the reality of those 'other people'. Reality is so very different, the movie actually feels like a slap in the face to those who have actually gone through the entire affair of loved ones with terminal illnesses. It's such a porcelain story it almost makes you feel guilty for the things you didn't do with loved ones. Unlike in the movie you usually can't put time on hold and have a perfect ending doing parties, visiting places doing things without constant care. The reality is grim and constantly needing to make decisions that are never the right ones and fear for all that is to come. Maybe it's a movie that can show you what's nice to do when a person has been diagnosed with cancer, is wealthy, still has plenty of time to live and has a group of people that have all the time in the world to support them. However, if you are one of those 'other people' you 99% surely won't have such a porcelain end.

Really touching, moving and honest. A very well written and acted drama about a family coming to terms with the mother's final months battling cancer, and how they all cope living with one another

Great mix of laughter & tears with an entire cast of great actors.

At one point in Other People, a character states what seems obvious but is something we all overlook for one reason or another: "you just never know what's going to happen in this life." On the surface, this is a simple film about coming to terms with death, personal identity, complex family relationships, and how outsiders react to the aforementioned. However, the emotions in the movie are complex and manifest themselves in surprising but true to life detail. Jesse Plemons is fantastic in the lead role, but is overshadowed by a spectacular performance by Molly Shannon as the matriarch of the family who is dying of cancer. Other People is funny and tragic, but, most importantly, it is relatable.

Loved, loved loved. Funny and moving. From the writer of The Other Two which is also brilliant.

Aunque tiene momentos divertidos, esto no es suficiente para compensar la trama poco inspirada.

One thing we know for sure, David is having a bad year. Other People succeeds in taking us back to Sacramento to visit the hometown of a comedic writer, David, played by Jesse Plemons; David is dutifully by his dying mother's side where other family issues and dynamics are explored. Molly Shannon proves she can handle a dramatic role as the cancer stricken mother. It is available on Netflix.

Other People has the great quality of its ability to inject little pockets of humor into its deeply affecting story. Jesse Plemons and, specifically, Molly Shannon shine as son and mother struggling to cope with life and the idea of no longer having one another.
