The Outsiders Reviews
This will forever be my favorite movie!! The characters and character development are top tier, the plot and actions are amazing and actually make sense, and the lesson of the movie is clear! Its a very emotional movie and Im glad it represents the male side of dealing with complex emotions, because sadly you dont see that in many films today. I 100% recommend it to everyone and I recommend reading the book as well!!
Had to watch for English. It's a good movie I guess. Doesn't live up to the novel.
One of my favs of all time
An all star cast in their early years. Another classic from Coppola. Stick with the original cut. The new Director's cut did not improve movie. The new score doesn't go well with the movie.
Brilliant cast, writing, and execution!
Not as good as the book but still good.
Another old school feel good movie that has withstood the test of time. Still well worth a watch today.
This is probably one of my favorite movies of all time. I read it and watched the movie right after in middle school English. I could talk about both for ages but to keep it short: the cast is AMAZING. The cinematography manages to be slide or lifey at some moments, then moody and dramatic in others. The pacing is great throughout. I cried twice, you know a movie is good when it gets tears out of you. The actors do a great job of playing their characters and making them just as likable and memorable as they are in the book. The only critique I have is that it is missing a lot of the source material. Obviously movies are never going to be exact copies if the book but you miss out on a lot of you never read the book. I recommend this movie to every single person I've met you hasn't seen it but DEFINITELY read the book of you haven't.
This movie is simply incredible, I didn't understand much at first but then I started to fit the pieces together.
The movie is as aimless as the characters of the novel.
Not as good as some people suggest
Amazing movie, I personally loved it.
Great Representation of the book. Definitely recommend it.
The outsiders is really fascinating teen drama film with really outstanding young actors that we've knew and Francis Ford Coppola did really great adapting from the original novel into a film and the complete version of Coppola is definitely a true masterpiece the original theatrical version is good but not a complete adaption from the novel.
too many muscly, greasy men and the acting was stiff and bad. the train made the movie at least a bit bearable. the pacing was very bad and they should have dragged it out a bit. it was good for the time it was released at. i did not like Dally's face his eyebrows they were too big it looked like he had caterpillars on his face. the book was better.
Gen X classic. I was around 12 the first time I saw The Outsiders and like most other teens and young adults during that time period,I loved it. I watched it again recently,it still holds up. It's dramatic, sensitive and full of great young actors. Sometimes the drama is a little overdone but it's a great story and definitely worth watching. Everyone is good in the movie but seeing Diane Lane somewhat early( I believe she began acting at age 11-13,not sure) in her career is a treat. Her interactions with Matt Dillion in the film are some of the best parts of the movie. The relationship between the greasers and the family they create amongst each other feels real and is touching. I have to say it..Stay gold ponyboy!
So beautiful, if I could watch this for the first time again, I would do it a hundred times
Timeless classic, like fine wine, it gets better over the years.
Such a good film the ending really sticks with you after you watch it Jonny’s boys death is very emotional to watch and really has a lasting impact on you after you watch this film overall a very strong and emotional film beautiful crafted by Francis Ford Coppola
