Paprika Reviews
Paprika was an amazing Satoshi kon movie it has a great story amazing animation and amazing characters and my rating is a 10/10
Pretty weird but engaging. I can’t say I was following the plot 100% of the time, but it made enough sense to keep me focused. It’s got some pretty solid character development that I really appreciated, but the main storyline got a little weird and hand-wavy for my taste. And the animation is super gorgeous and super disturbing. Probably a good choice for anime fans, but may be a little jarring for others.
Paprika is an adult, animated thriller about dreams. It reminded me a little bit of Inception, but more fantastical. Overall, this was a heady ride, with a good soundtrack.
This film was confusing in the most beautiful way. It took me some time to understand the plot and story, but its visuals, sound, and characters were excellent. I highly recommend it for fans of anime!
The character design is the first thing that I noticed. It blew me away. Paprika doesn’t look unrealistic like most anime characters. The character design is the best I’ve ever seen in anime. The transitions were immaculate, the story was always interesting. This movie keeps you on your toes. I’d recommend this to everyone! One of the best anime movies I’ve ever seen!
A visually stunning surreal psychological thriller. with a powerhouse soundtrack to match.
Woooooow. 5/5. Open your mind and let yourself be entertained
Fiya, very colorful, beautifully written/ directed. deep psychology meaning. Would watch again!
The movie is fun, beautiful and carries many different meanings throughout. A must watch.
i thought im gonna love this movie since this is satoshi kons's work. but surprisingly, i find it underwhelming. the animation/art is gorgeous. it shows us how human's mind is endless. however i find this movie so so. it is hard to follow the plot.
Filled with mesmerizing animation and an inaccessible plot, Paprika is fun for the romp, so long as you don’t get laden with the difficulty of trying to follow along. Typically, plots this bewildering would be a deep stain on the score, but Paprika is such a joy to regard — and also so influential on our culture (it very obviously influenced Inception) — that it gets a pass. However, had the story been something akin to Akira in clarity, it would no doubt find itself in the (90)s. The “parade of nonsense” (my term) and accompanying song always brought me back into the story when I was starting to get entangled in the minutiae of the science and alliances. Dr. Atsuko Chiba (Megumi Hayashibara) is the stolid protag that doesn’t ground the film but keeps it from going completely over the edge. Her line to Dr. Kōsaku Tokita (Tōru Furuya) “A food disposal like you is the genius of the century,” is jaw-dropping and not the sort of line you’ll find in Disney animation (not now, maybe not ever). Sure, you may have to look up some of the plot, but don’t feel foolish for doing so. In the words of Dennis (Glenn Howerton) in Always Sunny concerning dreams, “Unless I’m in it or someone is having sex, I don’t want to hear about it,” you won’t care or appreciate Paprika if I tell you about it any further. My advice: Strap in. Take the ride.
Definitely good, very interesting. The film that deeply inspired Nolan's Inception. Great animation movie.
This gets a lot of rave reviews, but I feel it's a bit overrated. Kind of nonsense for the sake of nonsense.
Paprika is a deep, complex thriller supported by its wonderful, bright visuals.
Now, this one I loved, a really weird and interesting sci-fi story.
Dreams are being violated. Paprika (Japanese Papurika) is a 2006 Japanese adult animated surrealistic science fantasy psychological thriller film directed by Satoshi Kon 🤡 It’s good 🙂 Worth a watch. I’d recommend it if you like this genre 👍🏼 When a machine that allows therapists to enter their patient's dreams is stolen, all hell breaks loose. Only a young female therapist can stop it and recover it before damage is done: Paprika.
Glad I went along for the ride.
What's incredible is how much is accomplished on such a short runtime and without too much exposition. The movie throws the audience in the deep end and demands it swim.
I cant say enough good things about this, its fantastic, just go in with no warning and its amazing 9.8/10
For anyone that bragged about understanding the plot of Inception after the 1st viewing... this one's for you.
