Parallel Mothers Reviews
A wonderfully complex and interesting film The war portions were sad especially with what is going on right now with Ukraine Its obvious that we have not learned how to be humanKIND yet
Stunningly, unforgettably good
Interesting movie. However, it was several movies. Also, it was a feminine movie. There were sections only a female person would appreciate.
This suspenseful 2-hour film by Pedro Almodvar held my attention the entire time. It artfully tied together a sordid period of Spanish history with the contemporary use of DNA to solve both crimes and questions of paternity. As one who has deciphered complex genealogical issues using both autosomal and Y-DNA, I found this movie to be both interesting and compelling.
Superb performances and art direction.
One of the least intense Almodovar movies I've seen, but still has many of the hallmarks. Definitely appreciated the historical / political elements included, as the topic of memory is not always explored with such emotional depth
The film was interesting and the actors were fantastic. There was one subplot that I think was gratuitous and didn't contribute to the overall arc of the story.
What an awesome movie, Almodóvar is a genius!!!
Riveting and original story, with no false notes anywhere, and two spectacular portrayals by the leading women. Almodovar at his best, in a straight drama.
Historical parallel of authoritarian politics to present told through the eyes of two single mothers, one older, one younger, both in searching of the truth in the face of government obfuscation and denials
Realities of life, acting was excellent
Enjoyable. Appears to be two story lines, that come together as on.
Well done, unusual and creative plot. Penelope Cruz was wonderful!
The film draws you in and sustains your interest. Beautiful photography, interesting layers in the plot, lovely character actors with touching moments?
Pedro is a master of creating a compelling story with compelling performances. He directs women so thoughtfully and this is incredibly true with a mega force like Penelope Cruz. She is at her absolute best here giving the performance of a life time. It is so well acted by every actor and is a monument to Spanish heritage.
Excellent storyline(s). Performances were Oscar worthy!
Great acting especially Penelope Cruz. Disjointed story
I loved the story. Complicated like women.
Loved everything about this movie So dramatic & passionate - all the complications & joys gof motherhood. Loved it! My favorite movie this year
this is such an important movie. The Spanish Civil War was a wake-up call for western democracies in the '30's. We do need to see what was done while we closed our eyes .,..,.,.,, paving the way for the greater horrors of W.W. 2. The ending had me in tears. Please SEE IT!
