Pathfinder Reviews
I love my gore. But the story just doesn't bring me into it. Good one time watch
Action movie at its best - who's the better hunter and who's the better warrior. Kick back and get pulled into a realm of a warrior battling unworldly beasts.
I can't fault a film for trying- but if this is the best one can do for the building of such a legend based on likely historical events- epic fail. In every single aspect of scaffolding that builds a good film.
non-existent plot and silly dialogue?? No sympathetic character? I guess the rumours that critics in this site are failed film makers is right. The main character was lost and confused, that makes him easy to feel empathy for. The plot was his journey to defending his family and becoming one of the tribe. Maybe you critics should study story structure before you write.
Nice visual effects, but grossly ahistoric and silly plot. I was a little bored during the whole movie.
A forgettable but not awful film This Adventure is not as bad as the critics say but it's just okay
Absolute Cinematic and historical Incompetence aside, I love me some Vikings; I have lineage on both sides and I find both incredibly interesting. Cheesy action, Vikings with horns, Wild Horses in America before there were horses, whatever, I can get over that. Where the movie goes from being stupid to offensive is the premise that these Natives are totally helpless without a white guy to save them. The movie would have been a forgivable mess if it treated either people group with an ounce of respect. Instead the Vikings are reduced to eyeshadowed spikey, rapist murder-hobo's with equally spiky horses, and the Natives are totally incompetent idiots who just scream in terror when they arent fighting like absolute chumps. Seriously?! Disrespectful, cheap, and condescending. Somehow the directer managed to scalp AND bloodeagle this awesome premise into a desaturated pile of condescending garbage.
I know I only gave it three stars but I LOVE this movie. Despite its obvious flaws it is just so visually pleasing that I can't give it a bad score. Yes it's corny but it just looks so bad ass that I'm willing to forgive.
I have no idea what I just watched. But you have watch it too, just to see the costumes. They're lit.
Low fidelity a/v but okay plot. Didn't have to look like a grimdark comic all the time and the commentary should be less breathy.
Dull cheap and oh so boring. The script is kind of incoherent.
This movie is not for everybody. It's not a drama, it's not a romance adventure. It's basically a blood and guts action-thriller set somewhere in ancient history. The historical accuracy can be debated. The vikings speak real Norse, there's a plus.
Just watch the original if you can, or see Conan the Barbarian, as it does the exact same story but better. And that one has Arnold.
Historically inaccurate with characters you don't care for and a story you've seen beat-for-beat before. But somebody give this damn costume department an Academy Award immediately!
From its very beginning, did nothing to grab me. Then the whole clash of cultures began with the Vikings playing the heavies. I just started fast forwarding through most of it and didn't miss anything of note. Don't waste your time.
A mess in every sense of the word.
Not quite good as 10,000 BC but well worth the investment. Urban did a pretty good job here, way more than the crystal meth smoking critics will acknowledge. It's got a spicy plot, decent adventure, and some pretty cool war tactics too. Go check it out.
I've heard critics say this movie doesn't have much of a plot, or clever repartee, but that is a Huge Plus in this movie. It adds to the mystery and realism of the often over romanticized Vikings. see the show "Vikings" on the History? Channel to make my point. This movie does a great job presenting the victim's perspective when dealing with Men from the North who actually have a name for the act of raping, murdering and robbing all in one day i.e to go "Viking". These were brutal, vicious, intelligent people who were raised to enjoy killing. Darwinism 101. This movie portrays them well and there is a very good story line that deals with inner struggle, but the prize here is the uncensored, non romanticized look at North Men going Viking.
