Penguin Bloom Reviews
If you like birds, ocean beaches, great photography, and a heart warming story you got it here!
A sweet story! I liked it overall. The acting, cinematography, and score were really solid! It is slow and seems to wander at times. But if you like the idea of a deep (and sometimes depressing) but ultimately uplifting film, I think you might enjoy Penguin Bloom!
I loved the performances of all the cast including the magpie, but it's disturbing. Naomi Watt's' acting is next level. She's able to portray a paraplegic person so realistically and all of the supporting cast is really good. Great movie!
THE TRUE STORY OF AN UNLIKELY HERO Penguin Bloom is a 2020 Australian drama film directed by Glendyn Ivin 🦅 It's ok, but I feel mixed about this one 😉 I'd recommend it if you like this genre, but if not then probably give it a miss 👍🏼👎🏼 This is a light family film based on a true story, made interesting by the magpie… When an unlikely ally enters the Bloom family's world in the form of an injured baby magpie they name Penguin, the bird's arrival makes a profound difference in the struggling family's life.
Good heartwarming film based on a sad true story. An emotional rollercoaster ride, brought a tear to my eyes towards the end.
A cute, heartwarming story. Entertaining enough.
This movie was so heartwarming and inspiring, as well as being funny and quite dark at times, whole family enjoyed it so so much
A movie that was well acted and a wonderful true story told. I enjoyed watching the movie and do recommend it. A wonderful person with supportive people and a joyful ending. I was certainly taken in by the bird.......who would think???
Beautifully shot. Heart warming with a touch of quirky. Based on a true story about family tragity and suffering that is partly healed by the addition of a magpie. How a woman drags herself out of depression and achieves great things
Sometimes, a good story of recovery, transformation and growth just needs solid acting and writing - and this is the case of true story Penguin Bloom. When mom is bound to a wheel chair after a freak accident, a stray penguin comes into the family and shadows the growth everyone is forced to go through.
penguins bloom (D-) (60) Has heartwarming moments but honestly is pretty dang boring... Drained me just trying to watch it... Why Rick Grimes why.....
Es una película basada en una historia real; la actuación de Naomi Watts es muy buena y la cinematografía es excelente; es una experiencia entretenida y conmovedora.
A story of rediscovering oneself. The movie tells how Mrs. Bloom recover from her difficult emotions and start to discover happiness once again. Movie captures the importance of a supportive family and community without which the climb would've been much trickier. For the ones in pain Mrs.Bloom's story is reminder. Strong people who fight challenging life situations are humankind's brand of Grit.
I thought it was a fascinating true story that happened in Australia seeing how their lives were transformed through a tragic accident and how a magpie helps to unite them again.
A little bit overly sentimental at times it may be but this is still a nice enough movie, elevated elevated somewhat by a really good cast. It tells the story of an Australian family who have to adapt after a tragic accident which leaves the mother paralysed. They find inspiration in an unlikely source when one of the children rescues a young Australian magpie that had fallen from it's nest and the family agree to nurture it back to health. Named 'Penguin' because of its black and white plumage, the bird initially wreaks havoc but soon begins to help heal and restore the damaged family and enables them to rediscover their spirit of adventure.
Absolutely loved this film. Beautifully filmed and brilliant acting. Really touched the heart strings though. Well worth the watch. Wished there were more films like this
Great insight into the process of accepting and adjusting to life with a disability. Well acted with lots of different character types. I'm not a fan of magpies but the magpie did a great job.
There have been a few stories now about people who have suddenly become paralyzed, and how they deal with it. What is unique about this film is that it is not just about the person dealing with it, but about her family and their relationship with an injured bird. It's based on a true story so the metaphors are apparently coincidental, and the movie does not hit you over the head with them, which makes it enjoyable.
