The People Under the Stairs Reviews

Apr 16, 2025

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, a história é fraca, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom.

All I have to say is holy smokes, this movie hits way more than it needed to be. This is worth a watch.

Darkly satirical, fiercely camp, and deeply unsettling, THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS is Craven at his most daring.

It's played with a light hand, but when you think about it, all those mutilated boys living under the stairs....it's pretty nasty. Fool is just the brother to break them out...

This wasn't what I was expecting and though it's an old movie and I just watched for the first time, it didn't age well. I found it to be very weird I think I would have then.

A strange early-90's horror/comedy from Wes Craven. It's an absurd concept, but still enjoyable to watch as it still has that 80's schlock vibe, but is clearly set in the 90's. Worth a watch, but I don't find it to be the classic others claim it to be.

While it's not Craven's best, its protagonists are worth rooting for and the story makes up for some of its limitations (e.g., Rhames gets killed off way too soon).

This was not a bad horror movie and had a few good moments, but it is definitely not a good one. It was a watchable experience just lacked some suspense.

The People under the Stairs 1991 Uno dei film più sottovalutati degli anni 90 di Wes Craven ma contemporaneamente uno dei suoi migliori film horror sociale e politico un Grande film di Critica Sociale

A bit of a slow start, but once the two adults and Fool break into the house buckle up for one thrilling roller coaster ride. Wes Craven is a master of creating the perfect nightmare. The story is messed up beyond reason (in a good way), but it's smart and never lets up for a second.

God awful movie. Right down there with I Know What You Did Last Summer awful. I expected better, much better, from Wes Craven.

The People Under The Stairs is a classic horror movie that I've rewatched many times. A fun, action packed horror from Wes Craven. A must see.

Wow that was a wild ride, I loved it. I was surprised it was actually legitimately scary.

Haus der Vergessenen ist eine schwarzhumorige Horror Komödie von Wes Craven (Regie und Drehbuch). Eine perfekt inszenierte gesellschaftskritische Geschichte, mit schwarzem Humor und vielen Schockeffekten.

The People Under the stairs is not what I expected from a Wes Craven film. It tackles racial and political topics and lacks the scares usually found in his other works. While the movie starts out slow, it picks up the pace as the story unfolds to reveal an intriguing plot. Unfortunately, the effects are laughable to the point where nothing can be taken seriously. Not one of Craven's best I'm afraid.

Not bad but definitely not great. Lack of any suspense or tension. Fairly lacklustre to be honest.

Wes Craven's People under the Stairs is really a terrific dark black horror-comedy.

"In every neighborhood, there is one house that adults whisper about and children cross the street to avoid". Wes Craven is just incredible. Just finished watching this totally insane movie and I'm already wondering when I will be watching it again. It's a film that holds a very important commentary about racism, capitalism, and gentrification in America, that stays relevant up to this day, told in a very campy, weird, scary way. The attention to detail and direction are amazing; you get the whole haunted house experience, get into every room, trap door, a secret tunnel, just to get you in the mood for a bloody-fun, violent, cathartic final act. *Let's hope Jordan Peele sticks to the original with his new upcoming remake (he's producing, so I bet it won't be on the same level as this one).
