Perfect Days Reviews

Beautiful movie, one of the best movie I've seen in years. Romantic, fantastic photography, is slow, but the nice way for a movie to be slow, to enjoy every second.

This is a most splendid gem of a film, greater than life and yet an exact measure of a meaningful life. So many thoughts and feelings arrise from the simple yet structured and observant routine of Hirayama san, I cannot stop thinking about this movie. Thank you, Wim Wenders, I think I will never watch this movie more than once, as life must be a succession of unique moments as taught by this magnificent story… and becaus I do not risk breaking the first impression.

Authentic to its core. A beautiful look on content living in all its simplicity for this person. A nice and peaceful breath of fresh air of story to observe with a lot of moments of intellectual quiet. A tiny gem of a film, this one is.

Too slow but worth a watch. Rating: 6.9/10

Beautiful! It is one of my favourites.

The main character has minimal dialogue, the film does not follow a traditional three-act structure, and there is no major conflict. It is a contemplative work where everything that might seem like a flaw is actually the essence of its beauty. Only Wim Wenders can achieve these things with such perfection. Pure art.

Wim Wenders making a “slice of life” film in the country that is the absolute master in “slice of life” films? Big challenge that fails in my eyes. You can see everything coming a mile off, and in the end it’s just sentimental, contrived and a bit embarrasing

Honestly, I never thought I would enjoy watching someone cleaning toilets for the majority of a 2 hour film so much, but I absolutely loved this film... And the soundtrack is pretty good as well

A calming peaceful film to watch. It's a quiet, honest peek at a person living what seems to be a mundane life, but it's truly the human experience of a man who finds pride in his work and contentment in his days. He demonstrates that in fact it's the simple pleasures and taking stock to appreciate the little moments that surround your monotony that create joy in your life. Kôji Yakusho's sweet smile emits tranquility. I really enjoyed this film.

Perfect Days is a calming experience. Hirayama is peak positive masculinity.

A quiet film in the mold of Jim Jarmusch's "Paterson," which is one of my all-time favorite films. "perfect Days" does not live up to that standard, but it is beautiful none the less.

Wim Wenders has been a favorite director of mine, but this film just occupies a very special place in my heart. So simple, yet do deep.

An entrancing film, even if it includes watching someone clean a bathroom. This is film about the dignity of work, and the little social interactions and interactions with our surroundings that are meaningful in our lives. The central actor is superb and it is a joy to see a small smile on his face.

Thought provoking slice of rural Tokyo life . Splendid acting by Kōji Yakusho and and suitably attached soundtrack.

A friendly reminder that in the middle of our repetition, we can find beauty, joy, love and purpose. It's a slow burner, with some weird moments/pacing at certain spots, maybe because I'm - as many of us - used to US movies? I don't know, maybe that, or maybe because it's a weird drama that breaks the usual mold, where the main person is not really looking and going after something. Anyway, the movie is very good. It shows, doesn't tell. It lets the audience fill blanks, ask questions, etc. Makes you remember how most of our lives is just repetition with some sprinkles of new and excitement once in a while... and that is fine, that is reality, it's not just you. Forget what social media shows you with perfect lives, making it seem that everyone else is always on holidays and parties, all the time, that you are the only one missing life, and so on. It is a friendly reminder that in the middle of our repetition, we can find beauty, joy, love and purpose.

A beautiful contemplation on the ways humans live and derive meaning. The film 'Ikiru' would be an excellent counterpoint.

Beautiful scenes of Tokyo through the eyes or a worker. We learn who he is although nothing is told to us.

I enjoyed this movie very much. I also identified with the main character in many ways. For a man who doesn't speak much, they did a great job laying his character out. It kind of saddens me that there aren't many people like him these days. Many people will probably find this movie boring and repetitive, but that's the point of the movie... Not to be boring or repetitive, but to show the routine and monotony of real life, and how the main character still chooses to see beauty in the simple things, despite being invisible to most people. And also, how he chooses to be a perfectionist, despite doing a job that most people would hate. It's all in his heart... I just wished for an ending that was more definitive and happier(i wanted something to come out of that tic tac toe game he plays with the unknown person; it's my romantic side, i guess) but i perhaps that is also life, most of the time... Overall this was a beautiful movie. If you cherish the very simple things in life, you will see beauty in it.

It's not bad, but not nearly as good as all the critics think. It is actually an ad campaign for Tokyo toilets that turned into a movie. It's basically "Zen and the art of toilet maintenance." There isn't any character development. It's a "slice of life" type movie. It's kind of a romanticized parable about being happy in your work, no matter what it is...and trying to squeeze whatever you can out of each day. It got a bit tedious, but they cheat and use some really good music to good effect. The lead did a pretty good job, especially at the end scene.
