Hi Gert-Jan Burghart here from the Netherland, love piercings, special my Prince Albert!

Destaca visualmente por la gama de colores o alguna otra cosita, buenas actuaciones y al principio te engancha.. Pero es mala, con un ritmo que apesta, aburrida por muchos momentos y sencillamente olvidable.

This movie tries to be a giallo. It even has a couple of tracks from Goblin in its soundtrack reminiscent of the original Suspiria. It appears to be set in the late analog era, and that makes sense considering it is based on a novel written in 1994. The movie is visually pleasing but I can't say much about the plot. A neurotic man wants to kill a sex worker but he chickens out. That is a smart choice for his sake but it makes for a bland ending. I liked it anyways and most people will probably like it too just because it's paced very well and the visuals are amazing.

Over weird, gruesome but lacks in coherent.

Cool giallo imitation for real giallo fans! Nice!

Fucking brilliant and aesthetically out of this world.

I can see how this would have been good as a book. (It's based on a book, right?) Like a book can describe a person standing on a rooftop staring at the sky for 3-4 pages. But in a movie, you just see someone standing there, and you think, "Uh... ? Okay?" In this movie, with all that fluff gone, it kind of exposes how weird and nonsensical the characters behave. One thing doesn't really logically lead to another, and some scenes feel like they're missing context. But it's pretty stylish and that ending song was cool

A good effort from director Nicolas Pesce. His Lynch, Cronenbergesque film has all the violent, twisted visuals expected but unfortunately for us no Tarantino dialogue. Frankly his screenplay sucks. I did enjoy the visual style of the movie, loved the wardrobe, interior sets and the maquette exterior designs and of course the vintage music score. One of the best scenes is when the main character "Reed" is play rehearsing the murder before the arrival of his victim, all accompanied with the gruesome sound effects.

Piercing's over the top style and presentation just isn't enough to save what is ultimately an interesting, but boring horror movie. It's really tough to know where this is straddling the line between tension and absurdity which again, contributes to this movie's intrigue but doesn't really make it any more enjoyable to watch. This one wasn' really for me.

I have mixed feelings about the whole thing, can not say it wasn't exciting and extreme tension can be felt through every second of the movie, which makes him marvelously entertaining. Of course, the music played a tremendous role there, furthermore, there are probably no better actors that could interpret more awkward scenes than those two so that is definitely unique as the plot itself. The shame is that it has more potential. It is a little bit shallow and the ending is just not good for me, I wouldn't call it the proper ending at all, I do understand the purpose of the open mysterious end to intrigue us more, but I don't think it fits here.

hmm... i don't know how to rate this one. i generally really enjoy these types of stories, but this was weird for some reason. it was kind of all over the place & i'm actually not really sure what happened in some of the scenes. but i didn't hate it.

Hmmm. All over the place. I was waiting for it to go there, but it left me with a hotshot flash screen. Sleazy.

This is not BDSM. This is 2 sick puppies at play.

Lo mejor que Pesce hasta el momento, su historia es intersada, la narrativa (escrita y visual) es magnifica y tiene la mejor banda sonora de los ultimos años (facil cuando las sacas de las mejores giallos).

The initial sequence involving the main character preparing for his crime set to elevator music could be my favourite part of a horror film (or actually any film) ever – quirky with a dark sense of humour driven perfectly by Abbott's performance as awkward suburban father Reed, struggling to behave ‘normally' while completely consumed by his inner dark desire. The entire character of the film – the direction, setting, script, acting – is nuanced in such a carefully orchestrated manner, like you are living in and experiencing through the mind of Reed, not your average violence-loving psychopath, more someone in the throes of a mental illness that has warped and disturbed him via both nature and nurture. Throw in some surrealism, a victim that turns out to be an unhinged sadist, and an idea that goes in no way as planned and you've got a rather eccentrically interesting film.

Pretty disturbing towards the end . I thought the actors all did as well as they could have though. I don’t really understand what it all meant . 2.2

Absolutely terrible. Next to no plot, mediocre acting and an almost total reliance on shock value instead of character of development and story.

Interesting plot, but felt like the story needed a better finale after all the build up.

I like the style to the film but the film ultimately failed to deliver. The novel by Ryu Murakami is great but the Film doesn't work. It's listed as a horror film but anyone going into this thinking that would be disappointed as it really isn't. If you're looking for something a bit different then give it a go or ultimately skip this film and read the book
