Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Reviews
This is an unnecessary film that delivers exactly what the audience expects in the most uninteresting ways.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tells No Tales is not a great film by any means. It is a passable finale to a franchise that has lasted longer than anyone ever anticipated.

Judge it accordingly, I suppose. The newest Pirates film isn't all that great, but it is enjoyable. If this series be your fancy, sail away. If not, stay at the dock. After all, dead-bored movie watchers tell no tales.

On the surface, "Dead Men" isn't a film with deep insights. It's action-adventure and fun, but it does have something to say about the lengths to which we will go for those we love.

For a movie that never stops moving, Dead Men Tell No Tales is astoundingly dull, choked to death by expensive CGI, lumbering set-pieces, and a script seemingly cobbled together even after production was underway.

A jarring mix of salty humour and treacle-sweet sentiment. But thanks to the old Disney magic, it somehow comes together in the end.

It contains all the elements you expect from the Pirates franchise and even a few you don't but takes on water in its final half hour.

The uninspired villains are the major low point (a flashback chronicles baddie Salazar's origins, ignoring the simpler, default explanation that Sparrow merely wronged him).

This franchise was sunk a long time ago. Perhaps it's finally time to let it rest.

It has some fun action set pieces but the search for the trident isn't interesting and Jack is too unlikable

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is a high seas adventure cruise with a lot of baggage. Plenty of what has made this franchise fun is on display, but it's accompanied by some of what has also made it tedious.

Aside from a handful of new characters, so much of Dead Men Tell No Tales feels like a hamster wheel a familiar gags.

There are only so many directions the franchise can go, and it has already used every PG pirate storyline at least twice.

Only for diehard franchise fans.

The whole affair seems lazy, stupid, and tossed off. At least Verbinski knew how to have fun while wasting Disney's money.

Dead Men Tell No Tales does nothing new and is exactly what you expect -- and that is perfectly okay.

It definitely marks a return to form and offers a promising direction for future instalments.

[T]his film was such a fun ride (pun intended).

If you're well and truly done with these movies, don't bother checking this one out; it's not exactly a redefinition. It's more of a reprise that sounds better than it has in a long time.

Fun, fast-paced, and will keep you entertained for a couple of hours...
