Pixie Reviews

Started strong with an interesting premise, great cast, good ditecting & really good music. But the writing though was weak. The plot was swiss cheese for all the holes in it & it was literally copying scenes from other films. I don’t know why they wrote it as such, but it seemed like they were trying to make an American Film….and a bad one. Let the U.S. make their Films good or bad, but don’t emulate them. Disappointed.

It ok I've seen much better movies of this type. I'd never bother watching it again.

A pretty decent crime comedy that deserves at least a shot to win you over

First movie I watched in theater after the covid shutdown let up. It was smart, mean and wickedly funny. It was exactly what I needed to see. Sad that Covid robbed if of any chance for success. Olivia Cooke managed an amazing feat in the '20s, a smart strong woman who was sexy, feminine and didn't hate men. I actually liked Alec Baldwins performance in this too which amazed me. It didn't hurt that everybody in the movie, including the hero was a scumbag. How refreshing.

Nonsensical ludicrous plot.

Quirky and fun and very original. Engaging from start to finish.

Clichés abound. Ireland = priests and scenery. Check. Small time gangsters = dumb. Check. Some of the Irish accents are pretty terrible too, Alec Baldwin being the main culprit. The shoot out scene was ridiculous too. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Extremely boring. I like Olivia Cooke and liked her in Ready Player One but this movie did not seem to heighten her strengths as an actress. I just don't find her believable as a hard core bad ass murderer, she just doesn't have that look. Her fake Irish accent had nothing to do with it either.

Fun, unexpected and different. Beautiful performances, entertaining story, quite hilarious as well. A great watch!

Pixie is an engaging, although slight, dark heist thriller film. Set mostly in the wilds of Ireland it's the tale of Pixie Hardy and her plans that go drastically wrong. Pixie sets out to avenge her mother's death. But a heist, that will allow her to escape her small town life, goes horribly wrong. She is then forced to team up with two misfits and they go on the run with drugs scored from the heist and a team of priests in deadly pursuit. The film is darkly funny at times although a little predictable. The scenery is great though and Olivia Cooke is very charismatic in the lead role. An entertaining film but one best suited to a rainy afternoon.

It was better than expected. It has the feel of a small independent film, depending on dialog and story telling rather than huge set pieces or expensive effects. If you like independent films, you'll probably like this. It's well acted and has a compelling story.

Pixie (C-) (70) Such a different movie... I mean just so unique. Felt refreshing in some scenes and then also felt really off-putting in others... Worth a watch if you are looking for a no typical movie experience.

When I was in school, they outlawed Pixie Sticks from our field trips because a group of kids had a contest to see how many they could eat and all wound up puking pastel sugar all over the bus. When I was pregnant, my husband bought candy home from his work and told me I could have one a night (he knows he's living with a drug addict). I chose a Pixie Stick. Why? To test the poison, I s'pose. My daughter kicked the s*%t out of me from the inside when I had just a tiny lick of this Pixie's Stick. She did somersaults in my body for about 2 hours after, so...pure crack dust that stuff is. When I read Louis CK sucked up Pixie Sticks before he went on stage years ago, I thought "Someone has changed up cocaine for a more potent drug!" because if you wanna get hyped to go kill your audience like a true cokehead, sugar will take you there.

Messy amateur heist comedy that has some nice solid performances from its lead cast, but boost more a feeling like you have seen this plot before, done better by the likes of Guy Ritchie or Steven Soderbergh.

great film set in the small town in Ireland, the film itself some might say is a bit "unorthodox", but who knows what the priests get up to in their spare time, some may be wielding pistols or a pot of tea. Even though some of the cast are not originally from Ireland i personally think when it comes to the accents the cast nailed it and didnt give off any bad chi at all, 10/10 to Seb for his accent! the film achieved exactly what it was set out to do for me personally giving off late 90s "vibe", even with a few hidden "twists" as such, i would considering this completely culturally appropriate, i would even allow my Irish grand parents to watch it, but im sure after watching years of "Father Ted" you are immune to anything, would without a doubt recommend this to friends and family!

The entire time I was watching this movie I was thinking "this had to have been written by a man" (nailed it). Such a hollow weird male gaze version of what a "badass" woman might be. The premise excited me, there's no other female gangster movies, so I'm disappointed that it missed the mark. The movie is also pretty self conscious about trying to be funny or edgy but achieves neither. The shootout with the nuns was pretty fun though.

Violent comedy-thriller with a good main character. It's derivative and silly to a fault with some questionable accents but has enough of it's own spin to make it worthwhile.

Olivia Cooke lifts an otherwise bland, copied genre film.
