Plan 75 Reviews

Mar 4, 2025

누구에게나 찾아올 노년의 삶과 죽음에 대한 실화. 누가 그들을 죽음으로 내몰고 있는지에 대한 고찰

Plan 75 is more restrictive than MAID in CA. At least you need to be at least 75. Anyone can ask to be served with MAID, if they want to die; even an able bodied man, living in government housing, signed up just for feeling hopeless that his life would improve. You want it America? No problem. If the marxist take over, this will be a reality. First they will introduce it as voluntary, then they will make it mandatory in the name of stopping climate change. Call it the modern version of the ChiComs' Cultural Revolution. Whether or not I am trolling is up to you.

I think my mild disappointment was how the sci-fi element is really only a backdrop for which to explore aging/community/etc. It's really a small movie in that way, and well done. I had been hoping for something larger though, exploring what this would mean for a society as a whole.

This film stayed with me longer than very many films. It definitely opens up a thought provoking lens on euthanasia. As a film, I found it a beautiful, soft, gentle, sensitive film. Deeply sad and yet life affirming.

I thought the approach a touch cold, although I suppose the subject matter/situation warranted this. Some smart little touches, that set it apart from the average. Not something I would watch again, but very accomplished.

This is a sensitive film with a story idea that is actually utterly plausible. The film does make you reflect on how society treats older people and how the young might develop a more compassionate perspective toward them.

A unique take on the result of societies that value productivity over wisdom...and one (of many) conclusion: the non-productive are of little value, a weight even. A solution that could have been presented in a positive light, we are instead shown the underbelly of this "solution". And the lack of ease of all participants. Editing was unique, gave us time to integrate the realities presented. All of the vagueness suddenly added up to a very concrete sum.

I wish we had a plan 75 here in the USA. Sign me up. Much more dignified to go out like this than through the USA medical route.

Great movie! I love the characters' evolution throughout the movie. Definitely worth the watch a least once in one's life.

It would be easy for a movie dealing with voluntary euthanasia for the elderly to take sides one way or the other, i.e. to portray the idea as the consummate evil or the salvation of mankind, populated with caricatures of saints and sinners. Thankfully, this movie does not do that. What it offers is Japan's struggle with its aging population in a very heartfelt and moving drama. By the end of the movie I couldn't tell which side of the issue the film makers were on, it was that nuanced. The Japanese excel at making films about death and grief - see, e.g., "Departures" and "Drive My Car" - and this movie is a worthy addition to the canon. I'm deducting one half star solely because I don't think the Filipina caregiver story arc contributed much to the movie.

Very subtle, but realistic story. Good acting. Prime cinematography and sound work. Keeps you interested throughout the story and peaks in the end. Very good movie.

Timely... an ultimate solution for some, wakeup call for others. Acting was spot on. Poignant.
