Plan B Reviews
The beginning was promising. But it became so full of movie cliches and “try hard” jokes that I grew tired of it about 20 min in.
Amazing, will watch again. We need these low budget movies that take us along for ride. They just feel like a mini journey and they don't rely on cheap tricks.
This movie was hilarious. Really really good
Really what every teenage sex comedy aspires to be
Plan B is a delightful film that manages to make you laugh and also think just a little bit. It has an innate charm that is helped by two very good lead performances. Best friends Sunny and Lupe attend high school in South Dakota. One night at a party Sunny has a sexual encounter where the protection fails. The next morning they visit a chemist to buy the Plan B (morning after) pill. But the chemist won't sell it to them as they are under 18. So they plan a trip to Rapid City to visit a Planned Parenthood clinic. As you might guess nothing goes right on the road trip. So we get entwined in a funny road trip movie combined with some nuanced social commentary on how women's bodies are policed. It's a very winning film thanks to great performances from Kuhoo Verma and Victoria Moroles. They are very engaging as is this very well made film.
While there are many films out there with a similar or related premise, its a joy to see fresh films still offer something unique that make them worth the watch. Loved the performances of the two lead actors.
Loved it! Great, authentic characters, very well written. The timing was really good, it never felt rushed or overly dramatic despite the quest motif. Definitely a gem!
This movie was a very realistic representation of the unbalanced burden women carry surrounding reproductive health.
One of my favorite movies of 2021. The movie is very funny.
The two main characters are more complex than expected, and at the end of this funny ride, you will end up caring for them.
A cute buddy comedy with a mostly unknown cast. Some moments are truly clever and funny, but some are low brow shock laughs that felt heavy handed to me. If you are looking for a fun movie that will allow you to shut off your brain for a bit, it is well worth your time. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that there is one major plot hole, but getting past that will allow you to take this movie for what it is, and that is a pleasant distraction.
Plan B is incredibly solid indie with timely themes, great takeaways, and a few, if not overly funny, laughs. It's cool to see a movie highlight a nearly never spoken about part of the country even if it's being highlighted for how negatively it can impact women's lives. In terms of entertainment as awareness, Plan B does it right. It doesn't hit you over the head with it like you're a dummy, it just presents a story that has and will continue to happen. It also has a lot of insight into what it means to have a parent/child relationship in 2021. It could absolutely be funnier, but all in all it is funny enough, but unfortunately drags a bit through its road trip section.
From a macro perspective I wasn’t fully invested or connected . But this was original enough and definitely had it’s fair share of laughs to carry it along . 3.3
84% 😄 Led by charming and sharp performances, Plan B is another strong female led sex comedy that flips the genre on its head and keeps the laughs coming.
I gave this crud too many chances. Really disappointing. It's so weak-unfunny, unoriginal, annoying, even the music sucks arse. This makes Booksmart seem like Superbad or at least Sixteen Candles. 2.3 stars
Loved it! A refreshing take on the bff road trip. A breakout performance from both lead actresses & the director.
A cute and fun tween film. It wasn't as funny for a comedy as I expected, but it was well directed, and casting and performances were decent, and the two leads had realistic chemistry. The writing had some plot and technical issues, and the 107 runtime needed to be trimmed down to at most 90 mins. Otherwise a decent one-time watch.
I had such a good time with this. It gave me Booksmart vibes and had a similar plot to Unpregnant, which I also enjoyed. Natalie Morales does great work as director, while the chemistry between Verma and Moroles carries this. It has some really funny moments and some heartwarming stuff.
