Worst. Acting. Ever.

It's Not Bad. It's probably the best Theatrical Pokemon Movie ever made for what it's worth. There's always been two problems with these films. The fact they assume you already know all the characters AND know what Pokemon is going into it. This solves...half of that problem. It defeintely assumes you know what Pokemon are beforehand but it introduces characters in a traditional fashion. The cinematography is actually good here. The CGI designs are nice, it's bright and colorful, plenty of action, and the direction is pretty good. It reminds me of Blade Runner sometimes visually. Everything else isn't that bad here. The characters are kind of bland and generic including the bad guy but Reynolds is solid and the best thing here. He's got energy and charm and it never feels weird seeing a Pokemon talk. This has a very odd tone in terms of genre mixing. This is a Buddy Detective/Cop type of plot mixed with a Sci-Fi type of family adventure with Pokemon and a hint of Neo Noir. The plot is suprisngly complicated and honestly it kind of got a little hard to follow at the end but also got kind of mindless too. It's a Pokemon Movie so it ends still how you think it will for what it's worth. But it's fun, it's respectful to the source material, and a very original idea. It just needed to maybe better explain Pokemon better and make it more accessible. Like Battles, evolution, and all they just expect you to know that going in. That or either making more interesting characters would've helped too. But anyone who is a fan of Pokemon or any actors in this should check this out.

This might not be for everyone, but their meta-jokes will have Pokémon fans rolling in their seats.

I mean, it's alright for a Pokemon movie, but it could've done a little better with one thing. The Pokemon, which is my biggest problem with this movie, because first of all, Mr.Mime, need I say less? But also just the number of Pokemon in this movie was... ok. But overall, good plot, kinda predictable, but a good watch for Pokemon lovers like me.

This movie was so much fun to watch! I've been a fan of Pokémon since I was a kid, and seeing this movie was food for the soul. The animation for all of the different Pokémon were great, and the story was compelling and hilarious. I definitely recommend it!

A live-action Pokémon movie isn't something anyone expected but it works really well, it's always fun to see how the creatures are redesigned to fit the aesthetic. The plot was really good and managed to deliver well on the "Detective" aspect of it's title with excellence

This movie was great hope a sequel comes on day if not atleast i could see the world of pokemon in 3D

Beautiful, stunning cgi, excellent battle (only one at the end though but still popping) great story, lots of easter eggs, my personal favourites was the creation trio in the office and the home alone movie in Harry's apartment. It was brilliance. Also the reference to aipom from the detective pikachu game was extremely obscure, but I figured it out. It was a fitting homage that they remembered that. Would I rather gen 9 or detective pikachu 2? Detective pikachu 2!!!!!

I really enjoyed this at the cinema but not so much the second time round. Stepping into the world of Pokemon was fun but I found Ryan Reynolds constant jabbering too much. It was over the top and very unnecessary. Also it would have been great if they had stuck to the original source material and focused on the original storyline and original 152 Pokemon. Would have been great to have seen Ash, Brock and Misty battling team rocket.

A fun story about a kid and his dad, alongside a wonderful Pikachu protagonist. With silly plot twists, and convenient plot, it makes good on its promise of mindless fun and cool love action Pokémon, and funny lines from Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith, it makes for an entertaining movie.

A fun inventive reimagining of the Pokémon world brought to life in live action with some really impressive CGI (albeit a bit uncanny at times). The main 2 human leads are just ok, but Ryan Reynolds is very charming and easily steals the show with his charisma, witty one-liners, and trying to figure out his backstory. The villain's final plan is a bit ridiculous, but to be fair it's POKEMON, so this is nothing new. The Pokémon battle sequences are very exciting and the movie's pretty funny all around (highlights from Ryan Reynolds and all the Pokémon gags). It isn’t perfect, but it's pretty good for a video game adaptation!

Though I’m not a fan of Pokémon, this is anactually quite a good movie. It has a Roger Rabbit vibe to it. Lots of funny moments, and the characters are enjoyably to watch.

Watched it a long time ago when it first came out with my first son who was too young to remember. Watched again with my first and second son now and I absolutely love it. Great family movie

This movie is the answer to what would the Pokemon be like in our reality.
