Protocols of Zion Reviews
Levin’s curiosity and evenhandedness distinguish the movie, though he’s largely silent about the pro-Israel lobby’s influence on U.S. foreign policy, the basis for some of his subjects’ paranoia.

The only civilized response to this display of abject ignorance, hatred and bigotry is one of anguished despair, but Levin's film enlightens as much as it enrages.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Apr 21, 2006
Illuminates manifestations of anti-Semitism without ever really elucidating or posing solutions to the problem.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Mar 4, 2006
Protocols ultimately lacks the focus and the scope to have much effect beyond causing us to shake our heads in dismay at the usual suspects: ignorance and those who would exploit it.

Levin's film is most effective as it objectively documents the history of international anti-Semitism, but loses ground whenever it reverts back to anecdotal coverage of the subject.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Dec 9, 2005
Rambling and disjointed, Protocols of Zion starts out pretty interesting and then begins skidding all over the place, losing focus just as it should be building momentum.
| Original Score: D+ | Dec 9, 2005
Purporting to look at the roots of modern-day anti-Semitism, Levin only has eyes for a well-worn checklist of Jew-haters and oppressors, his shoddy search for answers turning up not a single one.
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Dec 8, 2005
The new documentary Protocols of Zion would be almost funny if it weren't so downright disgusting. And depressing.

Even though his (Director Levin) is a circular journey, it's an interesting trip.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Dec 1, 2005
The movie is more a collection of clips than a coherent whole.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Nov 18, 2005
Too often, Levin confuses passion with focus, intensity with clarity, and deflating lies with discovering truths.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Nov 18, 2005
Simultaneously enraging, depressing, necessary, and frustrating.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Nov 18, 2005
This is powerful and depressing stuff.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Nov 11, 2005
In going to such great lengths to correct the racists, bigots and haters of the world, Levin gives them way too much credit.
| Nov 11, 2005
Concerned but unrigorous.
| Original Score: C | Oct 26, 2005
Steering clear of polemics, Levin takes a humanistic stand in navigating the divisive landscape. The extremely personal film is strongest when dealing with emotions at opposite ends of the spectrum.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Oct 22, 2005
A valuable and frightening survey of contemporary anti-Semitism.
Full Review | Original Score: 2.5/4 | Oct 21, 2005
In tracing much of this contemporary anti-Semitism to a phony 19th-century document in which Jewish leaders lay out plans for taking over the world, we at least get some understanding of how some twisted people justify their hatred and fear of Jews.

There are laughs in Marc Levin's Protocols of Zion, which is quite an accomplishment for a film about the increasing anti-Semitism around the world.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Oct 20, 2005
Levin crawls into America's woodwork to ferret out anti-Semites of all stripes, then rushes at them with Socratic reasoning -- a futile and often hilarious project, since they prove immune to thought reform, however rational.
