Punisher: War Zone Reviews
An Average Action Movie.
I acknowledge the film’s distinctive style, which closely resembles the comic book source material. The portrayal of the villain, Jigsaw, is particularly noteworthy. While Punisher: War Zone exhibited occasional moments of disjointedness and darkness, I commend its adherence to the gritty and violent action sequences characteristic of the comics. Ray Stevenson’s performance as Punisher remains commendable. (RIP) Grading: C-
Decent film full of great action and revenge from Punisher and Jigsaw, it also got dark humour and brutal violence right just like in comics
This movie gets the Punisher nearly perfect. Not insanely deep but Ray Stevenson's performance as Frank Castle is one of my favorite portrayls of the character. He's brutal, merciless, but not entirely immoral or heartless. While the punishers idealogy and methods may make some uncomfortable, this movies villians are people who make you believe they deserve it. It's a bit cheesy but works best as a mindless action movie.
Destroyed everything possible about this sequel
It;s a pretyy good comic book movie with overstated characters. Basically 1960's Batman gone Dark. The Baddies are Baddies and the goodies well not all good. I don't think I could ever criticise something with Ray Stevenson in it. It is what it is, love it or hate it. If you watch this with the right mindset then you can enjoy. Some of the acting is over the top. I think that is deliberate Just like 60's Batman. Think of a modern Batman vs an outrageous Dark sixties Egghead. One last thing if you think about the whole premise and how real it is. Why do people count bullets er it is fiction
i agree with roger eberts review one of the best bad films ever made but its disgusting…. i personally thought it was a cheesy movie the 2004 one was better this is a cheesy B movie worth watching for over the too gore and cheesy dialogue
Was meant to be a sequel but changed to be a reboot but it still seems like a sequel than a reboot
Shallow and forced script. Very exaggerated action scenes and several illogical moments, such as: putting a fist into a skull without the internal organs coming out, as if it were hollow; holding a girl in his arms before killing a man instead of handing her over to her mother who was leaving the room; warm color palette while everyone is wearing winter clothes.
**Title: The Punisher: Warzone – A Grim Misfire** As a die-hard fan of The Punisher comics and an admirer of Ray Stevenson, I had high hopes for *The Punisher: Warzone*. Stevenson brings his trademark intensity to Frank Castle, embodying the grim vigilante with a physicality that honors the source material. Unfortunately, even his solid performance can’t save this movie from its own pitfalls. The film starts with promise, featuring explosive action and a dark tone true to the comics. However, it quickly loses steam, devolving into a series of disjointed and monotonous scenes. The villains, who should be compelling and complex, come off as cartoonish and one-dimensional. The script is patchy at best, lacking the depth and narrative drive needed to keep viewers engaged. In the end, *The Punisher: Warzone* is a disappointment. Despite Stevenson's best efforts, the film fails to capture the gritty essence of Frank Castle, leaving fans bored and underwhelmed.
Wildly over-the-top, cheesy, and cartoonishly bloody, Punisher: War Zone is a violent action-thriller reminiscent of 80s and 90s action movies from Steven Segal and Sylvester Stallone, with clunky dialogue and a bizarre assortment of characters, but a game Ray Stevenson keeps it grounded enough to make the movie enjoyable.
How it has such a low rating is beyond me. It's a good movie. I just watched it for the first time and really enjoyed it. Violent yes, but that Punisher. Grow a pair and give it a shot... or 12...
It was okay, I wouldn't pay to see it in the theater though.
Could Not finish this movie as my mother said TURN THAT OFF! This was brutally disgusting and I don't have any desire to watch this ever again. Can't Give 0 Stars but Marvel I'll give you Props for the Cool Comic Transitions at the Start in the Background and the Marvel Knights Intro which was onky used for this film and Ghost Rider(2007) & Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance(2012). Overall Punisher: War Zone(2008) is a disgusting and horrible movie to watch and to be fair is the Worst Superhero Movie I have watched and worst movie I have watched so far
A dramaturgical disaster. Fairly promising to begin with, but it isn't long until The Punisher: War Zone gets lost among itself. It doesn't know where it's going, who's the lead or what the point is, and the further we get the cheaper it looks. Why is it so hard to make a decent Punisher movie?
The sequel has not the charm like the first movie, but its still ok.
An incredibly faithful adaptation of Garth Ennis' magnum opus, though some actors are worse than others. Ray Stevenson's acting is a highlight, with his performance as the Punisher shining far above every other actor's.
Just wasn't having fun while watching. RIP Ray.
Brutal fight scenes and a beautiful casting...too bad this movie is so criminally underrated...
