This is an enjoyable enough film - its not a war film or an especially dramatic film but its got some amusing moments and has a slight feel of Catch 20 about it. Its got some nice characters but its just not the kind of film that stays in my mind for long. An ok film but not much more, I wouldn't expressly recommend it as such, no.

The sibling chemistry is insane. It was bit weird how they communicated with each other, but I liked it lmaooo. They were real life couple after all

This film is the sequel to John Boorman's Hope and Glory where as Billy is a young draftee in the Royal Army during the Korean War and sees his nation changing as The Princess of Wales Elizabeth marries Prince Phillip of Macedonia and Britain loses ground as the Empire begins to diminish.

Such a British film. fun.

Having loved Hope and Glory I was a bit hesitant going into this film. Much to my surprise it was an interesting story with the same mix of laughs and charm balanced with some gut punching all too familiar moments.

QUEEN AND COUNTRY, 83 year old John Boorman's semi-autographical sequel to his 1987 film HOPE AND GLORY is a really good film. Bill Rohan (based on Boorman) is drafted into the British army where he and his friend Percy cause all kinds of mischief. It's very funny, though there also some various serious aspects to it as well. Definitely worthwhile seeing.

A weird but good one, kinda reminding me of far from the madding crowd, their pompous acting somehow is very true to me.

I enjoyed this sequel a lot more. It has a real feel of 'Biloxi Blues' about it. Stand out performance from Thewlis, O' Bryne, Richard E. Grant and a some light comic relief from Shortt.

Just not decent enough.

Fantastic story, for 2 hr this film can make you forget you were on an 8 hr flight. This film really digs in deep to your heart to all the memories of love and what could have been.

Very witty and funny thriller about war , recruits and their misadventures...Highly entertaining.

I really enjoyed this film. Well acted, with a great cast and a touching story about friendship through troubled times. This is apparently a sequel to a film called Hope and Glory so I will have to watch that now to see how it all began.

Privates On Parade, but with a lot less jokes and only one single solitary naked breast. Mildly diverting but inconsequential.

I don't think I liked it as much some of the reviews I've read but it could just be that it's not my cup of tea. British to a fault, but the film feels old fashioned and couldn't quite make up its mind whether it wants to be a comedy or a drama. The romantic story jars with the army lads larking about part of the film but the army high jinks are inconsequential and episodic. Moreover, the main leads are not charismatic enough to carry the film for me. So while it's a pleasant film that you might leave on the telly on a dreary Sunday afternoon, I'm not sure I'll stay if Countdown is on the other side.

une belle romance avec un peu d'humour sur l'armée britannique.

Nothing hilarious in this story about weak and shallow boy who accomplishes nothing because he believes in nothing. Is that Britain of the 1950s? Hope and Glory dealt with a time of tremendous hardships. This movie deals with the opposite: whimpering boy protagonists who crumple under the slightest strain. The only strong people in the story are the women. Perhaps that is Boorman's view of post WWII Britain. There isn't a man on the throne anymore and likewise not a man to be found elsewhere.

Enjoyable "dramedy" by one of my favorite directors.
