Hands down the worst movie I have ever seen. It had no plot. The charictors were completely repulsive. It had no redeming qualities.

Totally boring no direction and makes no sense glad I watched it on max instead of a theatre

One star for Daniel Craig's performance. Will never watch another film by Luca Guadagnino ever again. The Challenger and this were just absolutely horrific. Movie makes no sense and plays like some pretentious arthouse film that lacks artistic direction. It tried too hard to be a David Lynch Style movie, which just comes off as a copycat. This movie borrowed certain directing styles from other filmmakers and made them its own (i.e. Lynch, Anderson, Kubrick). First 30 minutes or so, you get the them is about loneliness and desire, but then it drags on for 2 more hours with material that is just pure nonsense (Lynch fans will love this movie I suppose). Not my cup of tea. Craig's performance was great but wasted in a film like this.

Tedious. I kept looking at the EXIT sign hoping we would be heading in that direction asap.

Ugh. Glad I didn't have to pay money to see this. Waste if time. Even with Daniel Craig ..awful movie.

Don't waste your time. Not my type eof film. Searching for something to stream, a story said this was "Max's most underrated" film. No it wasn't. Gave it 30 minutes and then cut my losses and turned it off. I advise not even to start it and keep searching.

Incredible performances by all. Daniel Craig always outstanding. Unfortunately, trying to follow the story which was disconnected and at it’s end left me wondering, if I liked it let alone understood it.

Wow, just wow. absolutely mesmerizing. Had to watch it twice.

Just when you think this movie is headed somewhere, it totally falls apart. The last third of the film feels like something totally out of left field. It doesn’t fit with the first half at all. Kept waiting for some twist to happen between the two leads but it never did. Just spiraled off towards oblivion.

This film was actually pretty dull. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen. It really made no sense

Wonderful visualization of the spirit of the novel. Extraordinary performances ... possibly Daniel Craig's finest acting. Lesley Manville is a revelation. Drew Starkey absolutely embodies Allerton.

The movie has an incredible picture and sound track. Acting is phenomenal. Nonetheless, it is not an easily understandable movie, and will really challenge our sense of interpretation - specially for those who have no background regarding the book or the author's own life. Worth a watch if you want to be left wondering of human connection.

Artsy fartsy, frustrating, rambling mess basically about a pathetic lonely dug addicted ex pat searching for a connection, but the beautiful surreal cinematography and Craig’s amazing tour de force acting isn’t enough. Over- heavy soundtrack. Must be for die hard Burroughs devotees.

IMHO it will be the movie of the year, since it will be hard to top (but not impossible because there are so many talented filmmakers). Daniel Craig (too) deserves an Oscar. But there will be nominations in multiple categories I think. Many have influenced the director, and this film is a clear testament to that Luca obviously loves Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.😉 The most beautiful love film I’ve seen recently. Visually, it’s very well done. The soundtrack is good too. There were a couple of places where the sound editing felt a bit too abrupt for me, although it’s balanced by the beautiful lyrical underscored parts. The ethnographic background is solid, although I missed a bit of a kaleidoscopic visual effect which would be appropriate when Lee and Gene are trying out ayahuasca.

This was WAY more esoteric than I was expecting. A great commentary on love, lust, trauma and death. Queer is based on a William Burroughs novel set in 1950s Mexico City. Everyone's mannerisms were so achingly soave back then. With no phones, or online brand-building in the mix, it was ALL about the swagger and real-time courtship. Smoking and foreplay never looked so sexy. --Swoonworthy. Plus Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey were magnificent.

Craig is good - the Burroughs story played out well and tragically sad. Little haphazard, maybe.

Beautiful and sad take about addiction - to drugs, to love, to attention, to someone. Probably Craig’s most stellar performance thus far. The soundtrack and photography are also magnificent.

See this movie for two reasons. The cinematography and Daniel Craig. Both are at a level rarely seen.

An odd film, but exactly what you’d expect from a William S. Burroughs story. Its tone reminded me of Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch, though this one is slightly more accessible. Given its source material, it’s no surprise that the structure isn’t conventional. However, the film struggled to keep me invested in the main character. It introduces a couple of potential conflicts for him, but they don’t develop meaningfully or lead to a satisfying arc. That said, I really enjoyed Daniel Craig’s performance. The issues with his character stem from the screenplay rather than his acting or Guadagnino’s direction. Visually, the film is highly engaging, featuring rich, artistic production design that presents an eccentric, expressionistic, and surreal version of 1950s Mexico City. The cinematography is solid, though some of the editing choices were distracting in a way that felt unintentional. The use of modern rock music in an artistic period piece set in Latin America was a bold choice. While it creates an interesting contrast, it wasn’t entirely to my taste. Ultimately, it’s a film worth watching for its uniqueness and the talent involved, but for me, it didn’t quite live up to expectations.
