Rattlesnake Reviews
I liked this movie because it was different.
This movie is so bad.. like ridiculously bad- and not in a fun campy horror kind of way. There is no content, nothing clever or interesting whatsoever and the dialogue is trash. None of the actors seem remotely Texan but they are indeed in Texas, which - don’t worry, they will remind you of this a thousand times.
Must be something wrong with me, I enjoyed this movie
It was so boring and predictable. Not only that but some of the dialogue is written weirdly.
A desert mystery meets an internal dilemma that we can all relate too. It loses the moment it needed to great... about half way.
It's Pretty nice and Really Chilling and thrilling it's a must see movie it's just determines what it really calls a "horror" this piece is a must see!! And I sort of kinda recommend it
Could have been cool but ends up being kind of boring. Wish they had gone more into what the entity was.
"Rattlesnake" may be a modest little thriller, but it raises some pretty big "What would I do if it were me" questions. The premise is simple, and it would have made a good "Twilight Zone" episode. Single mother Katrina (Carmen Ejogo) is driving across the Texas desert with her cute young daughter. Katrina is running from a bad marriage or some other unpleasant circumstance. She gets a flat tire on a desolate two-lane road. As she changes the tire, her daughter goes off into the sagebrush to play and look around. There, she is bitten by a rattlesnake. Kristina can't get any cell service, and the surrounding area looks deserted. But then she spots a house trailer. She carries her daughter, who is clearly poisoned with venom, to the trailer, where a mysterious lady takes her into a bedroom and cures her. And I do mean "cure." The kid starts breathing regularly, and her blue-tinted skin returns to normal. As Katrina leaves to take her to the nearest hospital in Tulia, Texas for follow up care, the lady mentions something about "payment." But it's not about money. At the hospital, the girl's fang marks have completely vanished and the doctor is wondering about Katrina's sanity, saying that the girl is simply dehydrated and just needs some rest and fluids. As the girl rests, strange people start appearing in front of Katrina and saying that since the woman saved her girl's life, Katrina needs to balance the books by killing someone before sundown. Otherwise, the snake bite will return and girl will die. She doesn't believe it at first, but after doing some Internet searching about Tulia murders, Katrina finds that the people appearing to her are all dead for various reasons. She goes back to the scene of her breakdown, and the trailer has disappeared. She has about seven hours to kill someone and save her kid. Now, she starts looking around for a candidate. How about the elderly man in the hospital room across the hall, who is close to expiring? How about the abusive redneck jerk whom she sees knocking his wife around outside a bar in Tulia? And how is she going to do the deed? A local gun shop can't sell her a gun because she's not a Texas resident. But the owner refers her to a strange guy named Charlie (David Yow), who is glad to provide a firearm for cash. He also sees that Katrina is going to do something bad, and his advice is to "make sure they got it comin'." She watches gun "how to" videos on her smart phone and sets up target practice with bottles out in the desert. Yeah, it's an absurd premise, like a B-level Stephen King or Richard Matheson story, but damned if it didn't hold my interest. And, it got me speculating: Who has "got it comin'"? I can think of a few people in my own life. I would never murder anybody, of course. But then, I'm not in Katrina's shoes. "Rattlesnake" is competently directed by Zak Hilditch, with creepy locations and vivid cinematography. What saves it from being just another silly horror film is Ejogo's sympathetic performance. She's no killer. But she has to save her kid's life. The outcome is a surprise and not a surprise at the same time. I thought it was appropriate.
Nice little horror movie with decent acting and a simple plot. A bit like a long episode of the twilight zone.
Honestly, I'm not sure I've been this disappointed in a movie before. The premise is so fun and interesting. The acting was solid and the cinematography was bold and calculated. I don't even mind the slow-burn pace of the film. But what I can't stand is unbelievable, nonsensical, stupid behavior filling up every miserable second of the movie. Well, that and trying to add a mysterious spooky ending to the movie without explaining to the audience why it's spooky or mysterious. It's just a really frustrating watch and that is emphasized so severely by the fact that in the right hands, this movie could have been really special.
Solid acting, super slow. If you have time to waste, this one is perfect for you.
Film in general not too bad that can charge you with a good dose of tension even if it has some problems of both plot and rhythms that are very damped and never too pressing. The film also tries to be ironic, or at least it seems that it tries, and this thing makes it almost ridiculous because it can not
it was good. not scary though
The main actress is very talented which makes it manageable to watch, but the movie left me with more questions than answers. The ending didn't explain much, and the plot was highly predictable.
Simple, tense movie. Well shot, well acted. Does feel a bit stretched at times but I was genuinely invested in what the lead character would decide to do and if she would succeed. Worth watching.
So boring I fell asleep.
