RBG Reviews
Both West and Cohen have managed to do a grand job. A fine love letter to a woman who has had a significant impact on America.

[A] superb biodoc about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg...

Even fans of the tiny, fierce intellectual powerhouse that is Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be surprised by this utterly engaging documentary.

All of these details add up to present a rich, intelligent portrait of a woman whose impact on America will be felt long after her lace collar is retired.

RBG a hagiography, a puff piece. It's a well put together one but it's still nothing more. Ginsburg is an inspiring figure but this movie is only for the already inspired.

I could tell you here all about the amazing work she did, for men and women, and how she blazed the trail for so many people - but I think you should watch this instead and bask in her glory.

This doc, by filmmakers Julie Cohen and Betsy West, takes a straight-up approach after an opener of a litany of male bluster tagging Ginsburg as an "evil" and "bad" woman, with one such retort from our sitting prez.

It's sort of bland the way co-directors Julie Cohen and Betsy West conduct this presentation...

An eye-opener on many fronts -- not least when it comes to the kind of gym workouts the octogenarian cancer-survivor undertook to keep herself fit for work as a US Supreme Court judge.

Some of the finer points of this gently engrossing documentary will be lost on Australian viewers. Nevertheless, the subject herself will win all hearts and minds in seconds flat.

There's something missing in RBG and it keeps a good documentary from becoming a great one.

[T]he memes, jokes, and impersonations put her in an oversimplified, cushy cage -- one that has a hashtag stretched over it.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jul 24, 2020
The filmmakers' justifiable admiration for Ginsburg is clear, perhaps to the detriment of getting inside the mind of its subject rather than merely celebrating it.

It's a superhero movie with a twist.

For inspiration, you can't beat this film, or its subject.

Beyond notorious.

A super documentary about a modern-day superhero.

Will doubtlessly be a crowd-pleaser for the justice's legions of fans, but it will also be an illuminating piece of history for those who only know her as the "great dissenter" liberal hero.

Inspiring and entertaining, RBG is a delightful exploration of the dynamic Supreme Court justice known as the Notorious RBG.

RBG fails to offer a warts-and-all approach to its subject, but it's a film that may persuade you to sport a trendy "Notorious RBG" T-shirt and follow her lead.
