Red Tails Reviews

Feb 25, 2025

while it does suffer from lack of historical accuracy it is a entertaining fun movie.

Fair action sequences. Yes they were remarkable men who valiantly served their country. No, they didn't win the war singlehandedly. Cuba Libre still can't act.

Red Tails offers a positive portrayal of the Tuskegee program involving one of its very few African American soldiers of World War 2. However, the film’s direction is uneven, and it shifts towards a more clichéd action-packed and adventure blockbuster. While this shift can be entertaining, it neglects the focus on the African-American veterans and their experiences. Grading: C

It started in such a corny, jingoistic way that I nearly turned it off. It ended up being a watchable B movie. The Tuskegee airmen deserved a better film.

Now this may not be the most realistic movie, or have the best cgi, it is still a fun movie and the flying scenes are captivating

Despite the poor reception, I genuinely love this movie. Maybe it's just the part of me that loves dogfights. Maybe it's the part if me that loves cultural and military history. Maybe it's both. But I genuinely love this love and it's easily in my top 5 favorites of all time.

I don't care what the critics say. So, they added some humor to the movie that in opinion, was smart and made the movie more enjoyable.

The weakest most mediocre attempt at this story

Despite others having negative reviews, this is by far one of the greatest and best movies I have ever watched. This is my favorite movie of all time and I recommend others to watch. Sure, some parts could be better but this doesn't take away from the fact that this movie is amazing. The plot, action, and feelings that come from this movie are incomparable to other films. This movie gives the Tuskegee airmen justice. Best movie.

Unrealistic waste of time

I loved this movie as a kid and it has cool scenes and I a not horrible plot but has terrible dialogue

This movie should have done better with its cinematography and the CGI, it lacked in all that which is why a lower rating. Representing the Red Tails, the Tuskegee Airmen, and their story is important and this movie did a somewhat decent job of that at the very least. Again, it should have been better and with the budget film it really lacked in its abilities to tell a good story. The acting on the German portion of the film was quite awful. In the end this is a movie representing the high achievement of the Tuskegee Airmen which there should be more movies made to say their story. Even though this is a war movie its very light in the harsh realities of war. Would fully recommend for all ages and sure is a family movie about WW2 events though wouldn't really say this movie has rewatch ability. Written 06/14/2022 Full Review on my blog to come

A movie with a very good backstory, this representation of important WWII events falls very flat. Its historical inaccuracies are very prevalent and painful to history fans. For some reason, the makers of the film think machine guns can make quick work of entire German destroyers, which is just so wrong. The dialogue is subpar, but the visuals make up for many of the flaws in the film. 5.5/10

Seen it before. It's alright… just lacks any real depth to the fight being put forward as the basis for the film

So totally unreal; the dialouge; the acting; entire movie is a waste. Yo bro did you see da plane go down ....what up bro....; just total shit movie;

The lack of realism feels like an insult.

Red Tails features a great cast and the dogfighting missions are pretty exciting. While the movie is exciting during the dogfighting missions everything on the ground is a predictable snoozer. The intentions are good though but there’s no originality and the dialogue can occasionally be cringe worthy and cheesy. Stay for the dog fights but fast forward through the rest.

I think the professional reviewers pretty much stole my thunder. There are three dimensional characters out there, and, alas, two-dimensional ones. But one-dimensional? Seemed to be so here. If I can predict plot points or twists a mile off, then there's something lacking; maybe not a very good story, maybe badly written. I'm no expert. But the dialogue really needed some serious re-writes. And giving Cuba Goodings Jr. a pipe to give him seniority and gravitas? Give him the pipe, but give me a break. Within 20 minutes I could predict the pilots that were going to die or be shot down. And a bunch of white pilots in 1944 welcoming a black pilot into a prison camp? Over the top. And some of the actors' roles (thinking the ground personnel here) were directed perilously close to Stepin Fetchit characters. Surprised that Lucas put their $$ and resources into this unfortunate film.

Well done! Hollywood interpretation, but let's look beyond that. An important story and a good way to tell it.
