Red 2 Reviews
With more action and, fortunately, without so many twists. [Full review in Spanish]

The overly fun-loving tone of Red 2 prevents us from feeling truly involved.

RED 2 slowly-but-surely begins to fizzle out as it enters its padded-out and hopelessly convoluted midsection...
| Original Score: 2/4 | Apr 21, 2022
Instead of the bombastic blast RED provided, the new movie is uninspired product that uses a semi-familiar title to attract an audience.

Check your brain at the door, kick back and enjoy.

Incessant location changes and elaborate fight sequences may entertain in the moment, but an absence of reason marks a quick flight from memory.

What felt fresh the first time around now feels predictable.
| Original Score: 2.0/4.0 | Sep 21, 2020
Overall we're talking fun, firefights, and an enjoyable, but forgettable time at the movies.

Watching talented folks like this have a genuinely good time is contagious, and given the late-summer tsunami of mediocrity we're swimming in, simply having reason to smile a bit feels like a decent victory.

Your tolerance for "Red 2" can be answered with one simple test. If you liked the first one, then you will like this film as well -- it's pretty much the same film.

Sounds fun, right? Unfortunately, the reality is dutiful and underwhelming.

It could have been much better, but it's passable entertainment.

Red 2 is unlikely to blow anyone's mind, but most of it is highly enjoyable, with enough moving parts to keep everyone entertained and invigorated. Besides, it's worth it just for Mirren and Lee.

I liked about 2 1/2 minutes... The rest is just embarrassing and wrong.
| Original Score: 1/5 | Mar 8, 2018
Neatly balancing murderous mayhem with goofy, sophisticated humor, this twisty, blackly comic crime caper is perfectly tuned by its first-rate cast.
| Original Score: A | Nov 29, 2017
Red 2 is infectious good fun, well acted and wonderfully exaggerated escapism.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Sep 8, 2017
Red 2 is chock full of red herrings with none more glaring than the one tricking us into thinking the screenwriters' return would retain the tone and feel of the first.
| Original Score: C | Jul 11, 2016
"Red 2" is at least as good as its predecessor, if not noticeably better.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Apr 17, 2016
It's not that surprising coming from a Bruce Willis flick, but its thesis of gun lovers being morally superior to bomb lovers is still entirely suspect.

A highly-watchable but stilted sequel that serves as a complacent sequel to the fun original.
