Red 2 Reviews
More action than predecessor and cast seems more settled in character. Same comfortable "movie night" entertainment as before. Worth watching more than once
Some of the suprise new additions add intrigue to Red 2. The magical and surprisingly unique twist adds a clever take, more action, sillier car chases and intense grudges. Redd 2 also ages well with no pun intended.
Pale imitation of the first. New additions do not help.
Exceptional cast putting on a great show. It's a light spirited spy movie in the same way that earlier James Bond movies were. The idea of going back to a Cold War bomb created by a brilliant scientist (Anthony Hopkins) who is hell bent on starting a nuclear war by exploding it inside the Kremlin is a bit far fetched, but it's not the point of this film. It's action sequence after action sequence. Fantastic car chase scenes. Excellent martial arts scenes. There is not a single scene that doesn't have high production values. Femme Fatale Catherine Zeta Jones plays her role deliciously. Bruce Willis sells this like nobody else can. All the supporting cast is simply BRILLIANT as this well executed comedy is played with a straight face. You will not be disappointed. The actors are having too much fun for you not to enjoy watching these veteran actors putting on a great show.
The first one was good. This one was rushed and honestly cringy. Lots of running around with a ton of bad guy swap? The ending was eh? Not a fan
It's rare to find good sequel's, but they nailed it with this one.
Stumbled across this after watching Red and being surprised with the depth of the cast. I really enjoyed the plot with a few twists and turns along with some predictable changes as well. Highlight for me is Helen Mirren in this role. So refreshing to see an older actress in an action role.
Like its predecessor, Red 2 does not pretend to be anything other than over the top and absurdly unbelievable. With an overarching storyline that is possibly better than the first instalment, the cast go on a rather convoluted adventure to dismantle an atomic bomb. With characters changing sides left right and centre, you have no idea whether you are coming or going. Every escape from certain death is utterly implausible and some of the action scenes are so comic strip as to be bizarre. Yet, despite this, the film is lightweight compulsive watching. There is never enough tension for anything to be edge of the seat, but it is just fun with a lot of laughs along the way. Enjoyable, but not for anyone who wants to overthink it.
This movie, like Red, is a spoof on secret agent thrillers. It is absolutely hilarious, smart, quick, a joy to watch.
Not as good, and surely not as inventive as the first edition, it is still quite enjoyable.
Super underrated movie
Wow, this one really stands out to me with its mind-blowing action scenes and plot twists! Same as the first one, I got lost in some of the plot but too entertained to care. Much better than the first IMO, as well as one of the best actions movies in recent years!
amazing and very fun to watch very good fight scenes
So ex-CIA agent, Frank Moses has retired, again. Frank and his girlfriend Sarah are happy living a normal domestic life. But Marvin warns Frank that someone is after them. "Look, I'm retired, okay. I'm happy. *We* are happy" - Frank "Frank... Frank... You haven't killed anybody in months" - Marvin Frank dismisses him, until Marvin's car explodes as he is driving out of the Costco parking lot. How is it that one of the best Black ops agents in the world so easily killed. "If they can get to Marvin they can get to you they can get to me" - Frank Frank is arrested by Government agents, accusing him and Marvin of being involved in a illegal operation in 1979 called "Nightshade" But a corrupt Agent, Jack Horton (Neal McDonough) then tries to kill Frank, but Marvin (faked his death) rescues Frank. Now they are on the run... again, with Sarah. Wikileaks has posted that Frank and Marvin were a part of the secret operation "Nightshade" A plan to smuggle a nuclear weapon into Russia.... and they know where this bomb is. Horton makes sure that Frank and Marvin are on the most wanted list, again... And the world's best agents and assassins are after them... Including MI6 agent Victoria (Helen Mirren), and Han Cho-Bai, the most deadly assassin in the world, who also hates Frank and wants revenge against him. With Horton also hot on their trail, they fly to Paris were Frank gets help from his ex-girlfriends, a Russian counter intelligence agent, Katja (Catherine Zeta-Jones) Sarah is not happy about Katja. "She's Frank Moses' kryptonite" - Marvin Katja helps them to track down a ex-agent "The Frog" (David Thewlis) who provides them with Nightshade info. They discover that Nightshade's inventor Dr. Edward Bailey (Anthony Hopkins) knows where the bomb is, but he is in a maximum security asylum in London, and has been there for 32 years! "Edward Bailey was a genius physicist who built some of the greatest stuff during the Cold War. You know, he was a rock star of conceptual mass killing. They called him the "The Da Vinci of Death."- Marvin Victoria joins the team and Frank convinces Han that millions of people will die if they don't find the nuclear bomb. So Han gives in and reluctantly agrees to help. "This doesn't mean I'm not going to kill you later" - Hans The new RED team must come up with a plan to rescue Bailey and find Nightshade before Horton finds it. I love it! The spy story continues. Red 2 is as good as the first one. This movie is so entertaining and works on every level. The writing is awesome with new plots and twists, snappy dialogue, humorous and action-packed, and a few new players, but still my favorite fun Red gang. "Retired and Still More Dangerous" Cast - Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Brian Cox, Lee Byung-hun, Catherine Zeta-Jones, David Thewlis, Anthony Hopkins, Neal McDonough
i honestly enjoyed this one more than the first one
Too silly and predictable. I was bored before it was half over. Good cast, though.
Really fun from the super cast
Weaker sequel with nice cast ;E x 5
