Red Dawn Reviews

Apr 5, 2025

Absolutely awful. There are only two scenes that didn't have me violently poking myself in the eyes. No spoilers here. The skateboard scene and the MAC 10 scene. You could skip to those two scenes, and you will have saved yourself an hour plus worth of cringe. Also, how the heck is North Korea invading America when they can't even keep their lights on at night? Pure Hollywood pandering to China, that in itself makes it worth missing this movie.

i want my £3.49 back aside from the horrific timing and too quick a pace, this movie had a single scene with OK shock factor. did they really kill chris hemsworth for this movie?? havent seen him in anything since…

I had the pleasure of watching this for the first time directly after watching the original for the first time! It's a more serious attempt than its source material, but it is still Swiss cheese when it comes to plot holes and assumptions... they're just more modern than the 1984 version! What intrigues me and baffles me at the same time, is how many people seem to prefer the original. That's not to say I liked this a whole lot more, either

No. Really. Don't do it. If there is ANYTHING else you can do - Washing the cat; Pulling your own teeth; Donating a kidney, do it. But don't waste your time with this rubbish. If you do make the mistake of falling for it, you will, I promise you, want to hang for the seriously annoying Josh Peck character who talks as if he has gum stuck in his throat and puts the rebel army at risk to save his blonde girlfriend. Yes, that is as sophisticated as it gets. You have been warned.

I only really enjoy it up until they finish training with Jed. After that the movie doesn't interest me. I'm already biased because I don't like the fact they remade Red Dawn in the first place. It would have been better if China was the big invading force instead of North Korea. Because you know it wasn't realistic when they still had to have the Russians assisting the Koreans in the movie. Like I said, the scenes when you see them first arm up with the lever actions and bolt actions, I actually like that because they use what they have until they can get better guns. But after they start taking down Korean soldiers it loses a lot of appeal. Probably because of the unnecessary tension between Jed and Matt. And Matt trying to save his girlfriend. I didn't like how they make Jed and Matts relationship strained in the movie.

Most of these "reviews" if you can call it that are people shitting on it because it's different from the original...duh it's a remake? If you like the original so much go watch that instead. They don't watch the movie to have fun or for entertainment but instead to find anything to criticize it on. Learn to enjoy a movie...it's sad

All of us enjoyed the movie. Even though it is 12 years old, it was cool seeing many current 온라인카지노추천 stars that are a part of various hit 온라인카지노추천 shows together in one film when they were younger. The whole movie it was "Hey that's so and so from that show" I'd watch it again.

Absolute trash movie. 🤦‍♂️

Pretty bad movie for Chris Hemsworth. I really like the actor but this is one movie I wish he never took. 15 seconds of fame for the cast and they glorying that it was something they did outstanding but that’s about it.

Movie was very entertaining, shows what can happen if we as Americans are "asleep at the wheel". Not as good as the original, but there is still plenty of expense and emotion. Also, some funny parts. My favorite when they run into the subway and get all the food. I recommend seeing this movie!

Heartless, soulless, and brainless, this version of Red Dawn lacks a reason to exist when we already have the original. The movie tries to update the story for "Modern Audiences" with references to Call of Duty, product placements, and updating the invading army from Russia to the North Koreans, but these "updates" drag the film down and date it even more than the original. When it isn't adding new material, it is recreating the original beat for beat. Well, as close as it can with it's PG-13 rating. Sure the original is also rated PG-13, but the amount of blood is way higher in that film compared to this one. It really made you feel the impact of this invasion and the horror of it all. This film has none of it and goes out of its way to hide it, even when a scene is focused around it just to avoid a potential R rating. The impact of the original has been lost in translation. Also, while this film will hit the same beats of the original, the execution is done in a less intelligent way than the original. It is almost as if they knew that they need scene X, so they copied scene X without knowing why it was there in the first place. This happens a lot when it comes to the guerilla warfare aspect of the film. There is just no logic to how they adapted those scenes from the original. There is also no care put to the action sequences in this film either. The shakey cam and fast edits obscures the action and makes it hard to tell what is going on a good amount of the time. They also try to make the action set pieces more over the top than the original, which misses the point of the original. It doesn't feel like this could happen to you and what that situation would be like. It feels like a big Hollywood blockbuster that most people will forget about in 10 years time. The cast ranges from serviceable at best, to mostly forgettable, to cringe worthy at worst. There are also strange choice through out the cast where characters are suppose to be related to one another, but you would never be able to tell based on who they casted in the roles. Overall, this movie is a watered down version of the original and another example of a classic movie from past that didn't need to be remade.

OK so I've read the reviews and people don't like it for a variety of reasons, but you know, it's full of action, it's got great people in it, it's not plausible, but you know most of the movies that are like this aren't plausible anyway. It's a good action movie if you know this is fiction and it's just something to watch. Time goes by fast there's no really drag to the film. It's streams free on Xfinity so watch it. It's not bad.

My grandchild like fights but I am not sure that he would have liked this movie. No adults with some brains could have approved this stupid stoy.

It's okay on its own but as a remake while doing some elements better than the original it doesn't fix any of the true core problems of the first and really is inferior and unneeded in that regard. Everything about this is just mediorce. The music isn't as catchy as the first, the cinematography isn't as well framed, well lit, and is shot like a Bourne Movie. Despite being 30 minutes shorter than the first it still feels about as long as the original. The improvements this has is Hemsworth is solid and the best thing in this and both versions. Everyone else has hardly any development, blends in, and the villians are one dimensional also. The action scenes are solid, and this does have a better logical flow of how they become fighters and adapt to the wilderness than the first one does admittingly. But it still doesn't have any underlying commentary, is lifeless and dull to look at, and despite hitting the same scenes none of them are better than the first. There really isn't any reason to watch this besides if your a big Hemswroth fan and want to see him in a early role. A subpar remake and unneeded overall.

The greatest 01 hour: and 33 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was blown away by this film - the degree to which a classic has been butchered is incredible. Never got to care about the main characters, never found the battle scenes credible. The concept of EMP being a new thing in 2012, and the entire US military being knocked out by it is so ridiculous as to even outdo the premise of North Korea invading the USA. Oh, then we have the the ending which completely lacks the sombre tone of the original.

Man I was looking forward to this because I really liked the original. Very disappointing. The story went off course, the acting was choppy. Surprising out of a Chris hemsworth fronted movie

Decent action but a terrible plot -- I'll give this movie a B for the action, but the plot was terrible. A EMF weapon manages to wreck the US economy and defense network (even the submarines are sunk) to the point that two third-rate military powers -- Russia and North Korea -- can invade the country. That's too much of a stretch.

Garbage and totally unrealistic. High school kids fighting North Korean army.
