Rob the Mob Reviews
Excellent, understated film, superbly played out by all, but especially the two leads. Don't be put off by the dumb, lazy title - it is more than worth a watch.
The sound track was a little much on the beginning but I WAS reflective of the time. I was drawn into this movie but two excellent leads. They were unbelievably naive and ill prepared for the capers they pulled off- and I fell into a sort of disbelief at how poorly they judged their situation. The movie moved along quickly enough for me. I like a nostalgic feel and it certainly gave that at the end.
A long boring movie that could have been a good one. It has a good start. IT would have helped a lot if the whole movie was speeded up by about 50%, and then trimmed by about 25%. It is really annoying when movies try to fill time even when they have nothing to say. There is nothing happening in any given scene, anything that happens takes its own sweet time, and it's not like the audience needs that time to understand what's happening. And no, it's not a slow burner - it just burns you slowly.
Started with a set-up that was solid, then it all went limp and ended with a whimper. #Moblife
A decent gangster flick with a couple that are two nobodies decide to rob the mob....loosely based on a true story.
Tommy & Nina, with their cool & classic looks, are the love bandits, targeting an elderly mob after casing a Gotti trial. Romano provides the scoop, while Garcia maintains with the old mafia bit.
Ballsy, crazy, dumb, delusional Tommy and Rosie are wonderully played by Pitt and Arianda. But best of all, this was not based in the fanciful notion of some writer but real petty criminals who thwarted the mafia for some time. The film points up the flaws of a legal system that has to ensure state's evidence is gained a certain way to a certain degree in order to convict, but while the cops work to do so, the mafia continues its insidious crimes. Tommy and Rosie are allowed to stay alive just out of random circumstances and the general incompetence of the mob. It's an off the beaten path love story that convicts the bad guys while ending the lives of two petty criminals who are treated by the cops with equal distain to that of the bigger fish.
I enjoyed it will give you a tiny mob fix
Rob the Mob, is a fascinating movie about a desperate (and frankly, pretty dumb) couple who brazenly "steal from the mafia" during the John Gotti trial. The music and writing are a tad overly sentimental, but the performances carry the day.
Not bad although I am not a fan of the mild humor fun fast pace style the movie is filmed in.
I liked Bonnie & Clyde's relationship, how naive they were and how they thought they were actually acting smart. You can see the end as the movie starts, so predictable but that happens in true stories I guess.
A mix of so-so comedy and downtrodden grittiness that's carried off in quite an accomplished way, largely by the onscreen chemistry between the two lead characters. Ultimately though, despite the poignancy, the story's dated style only serves to emphasise why Tarantino and True Romance rose to success.
This is a great way to go back in time to when New York was really New York. Also, Nina Arianda is so adorable that the odd nature and movement of the movie is worth the watch.
Enjoyable movie based on a true story, despite certain elements being hard to believe.
