The Rocketeer Reviews
Loved it! In many ways a trailblazer to future movies. Highly underrated. Amazing effects and musical score, cast is superb in character and stunning cinematography. Very entertaining and fast paced, what a thrill ride! Good stuff
Great mashup of history with fiction. The music in this movie still gives me goosebumps.
Underrated classic. Too bad everyone forgets it.
Story was interesting enough to be entertaining even though at times it could be cliche. The action certainly entertaining. I give it a 8/10.
There are a lot of small issues that I can point out in this film (how does he control the jetpack and where he flies, what keeps the fire from the rocket setting his legs on fire, the general corniness of the movie, cheap special effects, etc.). Despite those nitpicks though, I enjoyed myself for much of the movie and they don't matter as much in the grand scheme of the entertainment! Timothy Dalton played an interesting post-James Bond bad guy role and Jennifer Connelly is absolutely gorgeous as always! The humor was pretty good in the film too (particularly when the gangster and the FBI agent glance at each other during the shootout and then just go on shooting the Germans together, small moments like that). Some of the action wasn't bad either! It was a decently entertaining movie for the time it came out and Joe Johnston is known for making feel-good movies like this!
One of my favorite parts of this movie is the beloved villain Neville Sinclair played by timothy dalton. He's more powerful than cliff secord and jenny blake. The rocketeer is just some average poster boy who hangs around his best friend peeve and his girlfriend Jenny Blake. The thing about this movie is that this is the first time i ever seen where Disney did not bring any cartoonish elements into the picture which makes it sort of one of a kind. The rocketeer is one of those rare movies you don't want to miss
So cheesy, I didn't like how they talk. It's a children movie after all.
A very specific kind of throwback, feels like it should be slightly better but again it isn't like the reference points are masterpieces.
Doesn't really get much better than this when a movie leaves you wanting MORE.
Although not progressive, The Rocketeer effectively delivers good, old fashion entertainment with style.
A feel-good celebration of pulpiness and patriotism from a by-gone and largely forgotten era of American entertainment.
Got better and worse with time, I think I love the memory of the movie more than the movie itself, I really hope it gets a sequel because I would definitely see it. has anyone ever seen The Rocketeer Museum exhibit? I think it was at an aircraft and space Museum in Michigan, I always get excited when I see props, games and merchandise from the film.
brilliant, great cast, Jennifer 's lipstick game was insanely strong, just a fun popcorn movie, loved it
LOVE THIS FILM!!! Fan favorite in my childhood and still holds through the test of time! Love getting to show this to friends and family, a classic from Billy Campbell and Jennifer Connelly. Hope if there every make a sequel they do not bitch it and have the actors return!!!
Saw this one in the theater back in high school and really loved the look and concept. Wish it was better received by the audience, but still happy to have been able to see it on the big screen.
Fine action and performances, as well a great James Horner musical score. I’m just not sure why there’s a henchman that looks like he walked off the set of Dick Tracy.
All ages admitted!!!!!!!!!!!!! The greatest 01 hour: and 49 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This movie wasn't suitable for all ages, not enough content!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This underrated gem from the 90's certainly shared some great moments with its action and story.
